B-class (shown above): The compact B is a fairly common sight in Europe and Canada, but the U.S. will get the tall hatch in early '14 in only limited-production electric guise. A 28-kWh battery pack and 130-plus-hp electric motor are said to be good for 115 miles of range and a zero-to-60 time of less than 10 seconds. The B-class shares its architecture with the CLA-class sedan. See official photos and info »C-class: We love the C63 AMG, and now Merc's 6.2-liter V-8–powered mini bruiser can be had with even more muscle. Both two- and four-door models can be ordered with the "Edition 507" package, which supplants the 481-hp Development package and delivers 507 horses thanks to internals shared with the SLS's engine. The thunderously awesome (and discontinued) C63 Black Series donates its hood, and a bevy of exterior and interior upgrades adds visual sizzle. See C63 AMG Edition 507 official photos and info »CLA-class: Mercedes has many hard-core loyalists, which is a good thing except they're generally more old and wheezy than fans of Young Jeezy. The CLA hopes to entice a new generation into its first Benz with a starting price just more than K. The small sedan's 208-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four runs through a seven-speed automatic and either front- or four-wheel drive. The 355-hp CLA45 AMG is exclusively four-wheel drive and carries a price tag of $48, 375. See first drive »CLS-class: The CLS63 AMG now has standard four-wheel drive and makes 550 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, up from 518 and 516. An S-Model AMG variant squeezes an additional 27 horsepower and 59 pound-feet from the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 and brings a limited-slip rear differential and a burlier suspension tune. See CLS63 AMG 4MATIC official photos and info »E-class: The entire E lineup—sedan, wagon, coupe, convertible, and AMGs—receives a mid-cycle refresh. All variants have new styling, front and rear, and updated interiors, while the sedan and wagon lose their rear fender creases. Included is a pile of gadgets worthy of Isaac Asimov's fevered dreams, with the latest lane-keeping, automated cruise-control, and collision-mitigation technologies.Tech Tidbit Mercedes-Benz The sedan's engine roster comprises a 2.1-liter turbo-diesel (E250), a 3.5-liter V-6 (E350 and E400 hybrid), a twin-turbo 4.7-liter V-8 (E550), and a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-8 (E63 AMG). The E63 AMG is now four-wheel-drive only and offers the same S-Model option as the CLS63. See E250 BlueTec drive »GLA-class: This Lilliputian crossover, previewed as a concept at this spring's Shanghai auto show, will arrive early next fall. As in the CLA, the same 2.0-liter turbo fours will appear in both regular and AMG spec.SLS AMG GT: A heavily revised V-8 gives the SLS Black Series more power (now 622 horses) and a higher redline, and the car is about 150 pounds lighter. If the fillips, wings, scoops, and retina-damaging yellow paint option don't convince you that the Black is a serious piece, maybe this will: We described driving it as "like a punch to, well, everywhere." See coupe and roadster test »Sprinter: To new or newish van offerings from Ford, Nissan, Chevrolet, and Ram, you may now add the overhauled 2014 Sprinter, which has a new four-cylinder diesel (a V-6 diesel is still available), a seven-speed auto (the V-6 keeps its five), a passel of safety and driver-assistance tech, and new front-end styling. As before, two wheelbases, three body lengths, and two roof heights are on the menu. See drive »
