I have heard and read about the low voter turnout in this election. The problem with politics is that government consists of people and people are imperfect e.g. the Aaron Shock spending scandals, Hillary Clinton lying that she came under fire in Bosnia, her false immigrant ancestor claim, etc. George Washington warned “However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which [cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men] will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
Among the first reasons that I see people no longer taking interests in politics is the parties. The Democrat Party is no longer the party of frugal spending and frugal Democrats. It has been hijacked by socialists, Marxists and communists who insist that the government has a right to the people’s earnings by majority vote and mob rule for the good of the state. The moderate tax and spend Democrats having no place to go have filtered themselves into the Republican Party and the real Republicans have been labeled as either conservatives or extremists. Don’t let anyone fool you, there is no such thing as a conservative republican. You either believe and govern according to the rules of republicanism or you don’t, man is either free or he isn’t.
The second item I see and have experienced is a demand for loyalty by both parties regardless of where they stand on the issues. Party loyalists would demand that you support Stalin if there were an R by his name and Mao if there were a D by his name. The only thing missing now are clicking heels proclaiming “Sieg Heil!” to party leaders. Memo to party leaders, many Americans can think for themselves thank you very much.
The third reason people hate politics is money, whether its pieces of eight or thirty pieces of silver, unless you have money the parties could care less who you are and ask your party leaders if they or anyone in their party has ever has ever donated to the other party. Election laws are written in convoluted ways to protect those who wrote them to protect themselves. The 2015 Illinois Candidates Election guide consists of 94 pages of mishmash reminiscent of soviet elections.
To this year’s bewildered politicians, there are local elections, primary elections, mid-term elections and the national general elections but, there is one election that has been overlooked by Michael Madigan, Jim Durkin, Christine Radogno & John Cullerton. In 2014 95,000 Illinoisans ignored your party leaders, elections laws and gave a no confidence vote by voting with their feet and fleeing Illinois the way Germans once fled East Berlin. I have only one edict/request for those remaining in Illinois. Would the last one to leave Illinois please turn out the lights?
