Tea Party Congressional Candidate Gets Dem Vote Rigging Stopped In Illinois

Patrick Harlan

Patrick Harlan

Knox county Tea Party leader and Republican congressional candidate in Illinois’ 17th district Patrick Harlan and the Liberty Justice Center scored a major victory in Federal court to stop Democrat efforts to rig the vote ahead of the November 8th Presidential election.

During the 2014 lame duck session Illinois Democrat Party boss and Speaker of the House Michael Madigan ushered throw a new same day voter registration law that required counties with populations of more than 100,000 to let people register to vote at all polling places on election day. Of the 102 counties in Illinois many have populations well under that threshold, there are several Illinois counties with populations of less than 10,000. Those counties with lower populations only are required to have a central same day registration site under the law.

This obviously allows Democrats to maximize their voter turn out and vote totals in Chicago and Cook county in favor of Hillary Clinton and congresswoman Tammy Duckworth who is running for the US Senate.  As Republican statewide office seekers have known for a long time in Illinois it doesn’t matter how Illinois 101 other counties vote, everything is determined by Chicago and Cook county.

On Tuesday Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan agreed with arguments made by Harlan(whose is facing Rep. Cheri Bustos) and the Liberty Justice Center that the Madigan same day registration law was unconstitutional and disenfranchised the vote of residents of the states many rural counties.

Yehiayan wrote, “while it may be true that the polling place registration option can assist voters in certain populous counties, that option cannot be provided at the expense of lower population counties, thereby decreasing their political representation in Illinois.

Judge Yehiayan continued, “The application of this legislation favors the urban citizen and dilutes the vote of the rural citizen,” wrote Der-Yeghiayan, who added, “Illinois is made up of more than the Chicago metropolitan area and other high population areas. Equality under the law does not end at the city limits.”

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan(Speaker Madigan’s daughter) has said that she will appeal the ruling.

Jacob Huebert of the Liberty Justice Center said in a press release,

Today the court recognized the unfairness of guaranteeing a voting right to some voters but not others. The court ruled that if Illinois is going to have Election Day voter registration at polling places, it should be available statewide – and it should be fair. The government shouldn’t make it harder for people in some parts of the state to register and vote. If Illinois wants to provide Election Day voter registration at the polls, it can do so in a way that’s fair and equal. Six other states, including Illinois’ neighbors Wisconsin and Iowa, give all of their citizens the right to register and vote at their local polling places; they don’t favor voters in some counties over voters in other counties. We’re pleased the court affirmed that everyone has right to the same opportunity to vote.”

As it stands the ruling gives Gov. Bruce Rauner and his allies better chances of picking up a few seats in the state legislature; any GOP gains would end Speaker Madigan’s veto-proof super-majority.  The ruling is not likely to help Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who was in the Chicagoland area Wednesday, much as Hillary Clinton is still widely expected to win the heavily blue state, although her margin of victory is probably going to be diminished due to the courts actions. This court order might also be the only thing that can save Sen. Mark Kirk’s bacon.

Congresswoman Bustos has had no comment on the court ruling, although she will probably fire off a bunch of fundraising emails about it; she has more than $2 million in the bank, Patrick Harlan’s campaign is broke(donate here).

Voters across Illinois owe Patrick Harlan and the Liberty Justice Center a huge debt of gratitude for taking a small bite out of the Madigan machine and for making it a little easier to have fair(er) elections this November.

Did Rep. Adam Kinzinger Pull A Kirk And Endorse A Democrat Over A Conservative

Sen. Mark Kirk and Rep. Adam Kinzinger

Sen. Mark Kirk and Rep. Adam Kinzinger

In 2014 Illinois “Republican” Sen. Mark Kirk infamously said that his friendship with Democrat Sen. “Little” Dick Durbin was more important than helping get state Sen. Jim Oberweis elected to that US Senate seat. The conservative rank and file of the Illinois GOP(and the Tea Party) haven’t forgotten or forgiven Kirk for that inexplicable transgression.

Now it seems like Sen. Kirk’s younger self Illinois congressman Adam Kinzinger is pulling the same sort of stunt.

On Tuesday Kinzinger hosted a town hall meeting in downtown Rockford to address the city’s growing crime problem(5th most dangerous city according to FBI stats for 2015). The event was attended by Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey, Rockford Police Chief Daniel O’Shea, agents from the FBI and DEA, a representative from the Winnebago county Sheriff’s department, and Illinois Democrat congresswoman Cheri Bustos, whose 17th congressional district covers Rockford’s West side and thus includes many of the worst crime neighborhoods.

It was during Kinzinger’s introduction to Bustos that he seems to have heavily implied he’d like to she her return to DC with him after the November election.

Kinzinger said:

I appreciate my friend Cheri Bustos being here as well. So we’re Republicans and Democrats right. If we can get along, people can get along. You know what I’ve realized in Cheri is she is a fantastic person, very focused on dight the right thing for her country. What I’ve always believed in political dialogue is Republicans and Democrats both want the same thing, we want a successful America, we just happen to see how to get there somewhat differently. But we definitely see eye to eye when it comes to supporting efforts to reduce crime in Rockford and she’s been a great partner in Rockford….

Kinzinger’s sweet talk of Bustos isn’t sitting well with her Republican challenger in the November election, Knox county Tea Party leader and Casey’s General Store truck driver Patrick Harlan.

Harlan said in an email after seeing the video, “I have been in shock”. Harlan continued, ” I am trying to wrap my mind over what Adam Kinzinger stated in Rockford when he was joined with progressive, liberal Cheri Bustos. I am hoping that he is unaware of my candidacy in the 17th district.”

Harlan went on about how he couldn’t believe Kinzinger would have the temerity to call congresswoman Bustos his friend saying, “I would not consider a rubber stamp of the Obama administration a friend under any definition of the word. Adam, you should not use the term friend so lightly when you have a true conservative counterpart that has the ability to take the 17th district seat in November.”

Congressman Kinzinger might also want to tone it way down on the “fantastic person” and “right for country” talk when it comes to Bustos as well. Remember this is a woman who created a gigantic bugaboo about their being lead water pipes in Galesburg when she first learned about it a couple of weeks ago, nevermind that the EPA and city of Galesburg have known about and been working on the problem since 1992.

And what was it last week Bustos was introducing her WATER Act complete with a $60 billion tax hike on businesses in this country. Before that she’s been all giddy about increasing trade with Communist Cuba and the Castro brothers. The congresswoman also loves to fill her Twitter feed with gender pay gap falsehoods.

That isn’t looking out for the best interest of the county, and certainly doesn’t qualify as “fantastic”.

Ever since Kinzinger was first elected to Congress in 2010 he has been working extra hard to distance himself from Conservatives and the Tea Party, who helped get him elected in the first place(and of whom he claimed to be one of). For nearly the past year he has been trying to erase his past support of traditional marriage and now wants everyone to support what Justice Kennedy did to the institution of marriage. Last week he was one on 43 Republicans voting for an amendment that was affirming of the pro-LGBT agenda, and when called out on that vote attacked the Heritage Foundation.  Last fall he was one of a handful of Republicans in the House who joined with Democrats to revive the Ex-Im Bank.

So it shouldn’t be so surprising that he’d heap a ton of praise on someone who is heavily supported by the pro-abortion lobby, unions, and is only a member of Congress because of her close personal and family ties to Dick Durbin.

Now to be perfectly fair I have given congressman Kinzinger and his staff since Tuesday night to clarify his remarks and/or to affirmatively state he’d be back Patrick Harlan during his campaign. His staff at the town hall event on Tuesday night steadfastly refused to answer. His spokeswoman hasn’t responded to multiple emails all week, including for reaction to Harlan’s emailed reaction to the video. As of publication Kinzinger and his staff still have no comment.

Kinzinger has no opponent at this time and will thus easily win a 4th term.

Harlan: Bustos’ Lead Water Scaremongering Has Hurt Galesburg Businesses

Patrick Harlan

Patrick Harlan

Republican 17th CD candidate Patrick Harlan in a press release over the weekend claimed that Democrat congresswoman Cheri Bustos’ weeks long scaremongering campaign about lead water pipes in 4700 Galesburg homes has resulted in several area small business owners seeing a loss of customers because of the lead issue.

In his press release Harlan said:

Cheri Bustos has caused the small business owners of Knox County to suffer from her reckless behavior. Since the issue of the lead concern in Galesburg, IL. Rep Bustos has called the EPA and demanded a lawsuit be filed against the city, took the issue to the house floor, and encouraged national media attention to destroy the City of Galesburg credibility. Due to these actions our local small business owners have lost revenue and received numerous calls about the concerns of the products that are produced with the water from the City of Galesburg. With all of the negative press that she has caused in the city and the lost revenue for the small business owners, not once has she came back to the city to see how she can help or apologize for her actions.

Several weeks ago Bustos started a media and PR campaign about the lead water pipes in Galesburg after she first became aware of it. Keep in mind thaT the EPA and city officials have been aware of and moinitoring the lead problem since 1992.

Bustos has wanted to get the federal government deeply involved in helping Galesburg come up with a solution to the problem and to date the best the great minds at the EPA have come up with is to tell the city that they should provide affected residents bottled water and water filters.

What Galesburg really needs is a couple million dollars to replace the old lead pipes with no ones, it’s as simple as that.

Earth To Rep. Cheri Bustos Galesburg, IL Isn’t Like Flint, MI

Rep. Cheri Bustos(D-IL)

Rep. Cheri Bustos(D-IL)

Illinois Democrat congresswoman Cheri Bustos has been spending the last several days acting shocked and outraged that there are lead water pipes in the city of Galesburg, IL.

After learning from city leaders the exact number and location of the lead pipes she demanded city officials tell everyone and come up with a plan to address the situation.

She fired off a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency insisting they take action and come up with a long term plan.

Wrote an op-ed in the local paper touting how she got really upset at the news of the lead pipes and all the things she and the government are going to do about it.

Bustos even went to the floor of the House this week to give a little speech about it.

But there is one tiny little problem with all of congresswoman Bustos’ sudden concern for Galesburg, which she has represented since 2012, and that is the tiny little fact that Galesburg officials have been telling area residents for years that there is lead pipes and therefore lead in the water around town.

As Bustos’ Republican opponent Patrick Harlan, who lives in Galesburg, has pointed out the city has been sending yearly reports to residents pointing out the lead problem for some time.

From a press release on the issue Harlan sent out on Friday:

Cheri Bustos has brought alot of concerns to the citizens of Galesburg with her statements about lead in the water. I am truly disappointed in her pushing a scare tactic along with disrespecting our city employees and the mayor. I understand that this is an issue that must be addressed if there was true information that the City of Galesburg has tried to cover up or hide any information that may cause harm to the citizens.

However I know for a fact that the water department of the City of Galesburg has always made “WE” the citizens aware of the possibility of lead being in the water. I receive a letter from the City of Galesburg every year reporting on the possibility of lead. The city has given us a notice on a possibility of an issue and the knowledge on how to address the issue of lead.

A simple Google search of Galesburg’s lead water brings up this 2010 article from the Galesburg Register-Mail that talks about how the city and the EPA have been testing area homes since 1992 for lead, and measures they’ve taken to monitor and deal with the issue.

The only person who find that Galesburg has had lead in its water(and pipes) for decades to be news is congresswoman Bustos.

Makes you wonder if anyone ever told her we landed on the Moon.

There is one obvious reason why Cheri is making such a big deal out of something, everyone else has known about for years, she wants the publicity and to appear to be doing something to help, and by help I mean more government because of the lead problem in Flint, Michigan, which happens to have been caused by state and federal EPA officials(imagine that).

The solution to Galesburg’s lead problem is simple, not easy but simple, replace the freaking lead pipes with new ones. Yes that cost money, it will take time, but that is all it would take.

Granted you can’t generate buzz and publicity for your reelection pointing that out.

Harlan Wants To Know If Bustos Supports Obama’s Gitmo Closure Plan

Patrick Harlan

Patrick Harlan

Republican 17th congressional district candidate Patrick Harlan is asking Democrat congresswoman Cheri Bustos to come out with her stance on President Obama’s plan to close the Guantanamo Bay terrorist prison and bring 60 terrorist to the United States.

So far Bustos has made no public comment either supporting or objecting to the President’s plan.

Harlan, specifically want’s to know if Bustos is okay with Thomson prison possibly being used as a part of the President’s plan.

Congress has made it illegal for the President to bring any Gitmo detainees into the country or spend any money to make any prison ready for such a purpose.

However, the Obama administration bought the Thomson prison in Northwest Illinois from the state of Illinois so that it could be used to do just that and Bustos and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin have been funneling tens of millions of dollars into it to get it ready to be opened.

During her 2014 reelection bid Bustos said that she was against having Thomson used to house Gitmo terrorists.

Interview With Patrick Harlan Running For IL 17th CD(Video)

Patrick Harlan

Patrick Harlan

Before the We Are Breitbart meet-up Tuesday evening in Moline I had the chance to ask some questions of Patrick Harlan who is seeking the Republican nomination in the 17th congressional district.

Harlan, the leader of the Knox County Tea Party, when asked about Democrat congresswoman Cheri Bustos’ post SOTU claim that the Presidents speech was “uplifting” said that “There’s nothing uplifting to talk about with President Obama.”

Harlan also said that he is opposed to normalizing trade and diplomatic relations with Communist Cuba until the Castro brothers are no longer in power.  Harlan also came out against the federal governments new fair housing rules which are being used to force the city of Rockford to accept a new public housing project that is widely opposed by residents.

Tea Party Truck Driver To Challenge Bustos In IL17 CD

Patrick Harlan

Patrick Harlan

Knox county Tea Party leader Patrick Harlan of Galesburg has announced his intention to challenge Democrat congresswoman Cheri Bustos in 2016.

Harlan is a truck driver for Casey’s General Stores and told the Peoria Journal-Star that because of Bustos’ support of the Iran nuclear deal and her backing of continued federal funding of Planned Parenthood that he had to run against her.

Harlan is running on a three-step campaign of “Faith, family and freedom,” and strongly opposes the Iran deal designed to keep the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon, calling it “a death sentence” for the United States.

He also pledged to defund Planned Parenthood, and is prepared to “do whatever it takes” to do so.

“I would specifically put that in a highway bill,” he said. “If they want the highway bill, they’re going to have to get rid of Planned Parenthood.”

Harlan doesn’t expect to get much national support from the Republican Party but hopes a grassroots Tea Party campaign and his stark differences on key issues will unseat the two term Democrat.
