Conservatives And The Trump Presidency

Donald Trump

Donald Trump

If you don’t already know Donald Trump is the President elect and Mike Pence the VP elect.

(brief golf clap)

Now what are conservatives, whether they be principled #NeverTrump’er such as myself, or those who came around to supporting Trump and Pence such as Mark Levin and Sen. Ted Cruz(whom I ran as an alternate delegate for), to do with the election in the rear view mirror and inauguration day on the horizon?

To put it simply we do what we’ve always done, we fight for our principles, the Constitution, and the betterment of our fellow-man.

Conservatives who came long before me fought to bring conservatism to the American people, fought to get Barry Goldwater the GOP presidential nomination, and kept on fighting right on to election night in 1980.

Even when we conservatives finally succeeded with the pivotal election of Ronald Reagan we didn’t stop fighting. We fought for his tax cuts, his deregulation of energy and communications, and rebuilding of the military.  We battled to abolish the Department of Education, adopt a balanced budget amendment. and end implement the Strategic Defense Initiative that helped to end the Cold War.

The fighting for the conservative cause never ceases as evidenced by the Gingrich Revolution and all that brought such as welfare to work.

Not so long ago that fight took the form of opposing President George W. Bush’s attempts at amnesty for illegal immigrants and some of his choices for the Supreme Court.

Now that Donald Trump will be leading our nation and the Republican Party for the next four years we conservatives are going to have to fight to make sure that his good policy agenda items happen, especially with the GOP in control of Congress for the next 2 years.

School choice and education reform is one of the biggest and best things we could ever hope to do for our nation in the long run and it is something that has to happen.

The same goes for tax cuts, regulatory reforms, and the complete and total repeal and defunding of every word and regulation of Obamacare.

Donald Trump’s support of congressional term limits is to be applauded and to make sure it happens we conservatives need to convince him to back the Article V Convention of States effort so that the necessary number of state legislatures get on board so that the states can then ratify those term limits and hopefully get a balanced budget amendment, further tax reform via the flat tax or fair tax, and maybe even other parts of Mark Levin’s Liberty Amendments.

When Donald Trump and his biggest supporters like Steve Bannon go head long into bad policy making, such as protectionist trade policies, we conservatives will have to fight back. We’ll have to point out how and why punitive tariffs, protectionism, and trade wars created the Great Depression.

When his children start pushing for a new taxpayer backed paid family leave entitlement, we conservatives will fight back against that as we must.

Many years from now we’ll all be fighting still for different candidates and for different conservative ideas.

But as always we will be fighting for our principles, the Constitution, and the betterment of our fellow-man.

Trump Love Is No Excuse To Attack Convention Of States

conventionIt is one thing for a Donald Trump devotee to share fake stories from fake websites or to tout the awesomeness and definitive certainty of online polls but it is something else altogether when one uses their love of Trump as an excuse to attack the Article V Convention of States effort.

As of today 8 state legislatures, from Florida to Alaska, have approved applications to hold a Convention of States under Article V of the Constitution for the purpose of debating and proposing constitutional amendments for state ratification.

This is an effort that began gaining traction with the 2013 release of best-selling author and talk show host Mark Levin’s book The Liberty Amendments and has only grown since then and is going to continue in 2017 as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has made making his state the 9th to join the effort to reign in the out of control Federal government as top legislative priority of his, a priority he reiterated in new book Broken But Unbowed.

But leave it up to Trump cultist logic to conflate a conservative, principled plan to save the Republic and the Constitution from liberal Statists and crony capitalist RINOs, that began 3 years before Donald Trump was ever a presidential candidate with a plot to harm The Donald that must be stopped.

Illinois Review contributor Nancy Thorner wrote Monday, “”Never Trump” people are the leaders in pushing the Convention of States. They include Eric O’Keefe (who led the delusional effort at this summer’s Republican Convention in Cleveland to deny Trump the nomination) and Michael Farris (who has continued to publicly criticize Trump). These “Never Trump” people are the new RINOS.  Failing to back the Donald Trump, do we want our Constitution rewritten by them?”

Nancy spent the majority of her piece attacking the entire concept of an Article V Convention, basing her attacks primarily off of the work of attorney Publius Huldah, who spoke recently at an Eagle Forum event in St. Louis, arguing that such an invocation of the second amendment method within Article V would result in a Constitutional Convention that would draft an entirely new Constitution.

Nancy also included some good old fashion George Soros and Koch brothers conspiracy theorizing in her piece saying, “What would prevent backers of the Convention of States from engaging in tactics of the Left, such as using secret, undisclosed big donors to finance their ConCon projects.  The secret donors may have received secret promises about what a new convention would actually do.  David Koch of the Koch brothers, who may be funding the project, supports abortion and gay rights, and refuses to support Trump.  George Soros is also pushing for ConCon, using his immense fortune to do so.”

Mrs. Thorner also used the #NeverTrump and Soros/Koch brothers lines of attack in a different Article V hit piece she wrote in July ahead of the GOP National Convention in Cleveland saying, “ConCon supporters are in step with globalists like the Koch Brothers and George Soros who are determined to take over the Republican Party using the never-used procedure of an Article V Convention as a ruse to purpose amendments to the U.S. Constitution.”

Hate to burst a good bubble but George Soros and the Koch Brothers aren’t the ones working to get enough state legislatures to approve applications to hold an Article V Convention, it has been grass-roots conservatives the nation over who have been working their state Representatives and State Senators for 3 years now that have been doing it.

This is an effort that has received scant national support or reportage outside of Mark Levin and Glenn Beck.

And yet this is an effort that has had the support of principled conservatives for a long time.

Just in our current Modern Era, President Dwight Eisenhower backed using Article V to tackle the Federal bureaucracy.

Throughout the 1970s great Free Market thinkers like Milton Friedman supported Article V to get a much-needed(then and now) balanced budget amendment.

In his autobiography An American Life President Ronald Reagan wrote of the need for the American people to use the Article V Convention of States process to get term limits on Congress, a balanced budget amendment, and a Presidential line item veto.

Even Trump surrogates Dr. Ben Carson, and Mike Huckabee supported the Article V Convention effort during the GOP Presidential primary. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has also been a major supporter of the effort even before his presidential campaign.

The likes of Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, John Boehner, Paul Ryan, Nancy Pelosi, and the back benchers who will succeed them will never let any constitutional amendment that limits their power, the overall power of the Federal government, or reverses anything the “progressives” have gotten over the last 100 plus years, get the necessary majorities in both the House and Senate for them to be moved on to the states for ratification.

Under the current status quo we will never have congressional, let along, Supreme Court term limits, no state override authority of bad regulations, executive orders, or SCOTUS decrees, no balanced budget, no major tax reform(Fair Tax), no restoration of the 9th and 10th amendments, nothing.  We will continue to be stuck with continuing resolutions that fully fund the liberal agenda, a cumulative debt that will ensure future generations are born into indentured servitude, and career politicians spending a lifetime in Washington.

I’ve been under the impression this past year that Trump and his supporters hated career politicians, why would they then attack a guaranteed way of getting rid of all of them, permanently?

No one man, no one election, is going to stop the nations decay and rot from within, but maybe, just maybe, this “Break in case of emergency” Article V Convention option could if the Trumpsters would take off their blinders and realize we are going to need something with a longer shelf life than a campaign hat to truly “Make America Great Again”.

Thank You, Mark Levin

markGot to give a great big, giant, Thank You to The Great One, Denali, Mark Levin, who over the weekend found my piece on the Trump supporters and the garbage they are putting on the internet and shared it with his massive social media audience.

I am humbled. Here’s the link to the full piece.

Now the question is does Mark talk about the piece during his show tonight? Guess we’ll find out together.

Cleaning Up The Mess Trump Supporters Have Made Of The Internet

Donald Trump

Donald Trump

The supporters of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump really are making a mess of things on the internet and it is time to clean that mess up.

That begins by letting all the Trump supporters out there in on a not so little secret, that website you love to share stories of on social media called Prntly.com, it is a fake.

As the Washington Post has uncovered virtually every story and every headline at that site is completely fraudulent. All the “people” behind Prntly do is cut and paste text from stories about Donald Trump or Ted Cruz and then give them made up headlines, right off the National Equirer’s editing room floor.

What should bother Trump supporters even more than the fact that they’ve been duped by a fraud site, is that the same people running prntly.com also run another site called Marshallreport.com. That site is a pro Bernie Sanders one, and it too cuts and paste stories together with sensational headlines.

All totally fake. But would you expect anything less from a convicted felon.

And as the Examiner.com reports, prntly isn’t the only fake news site out there, several top websites and blogs supportive of Donald Trump, all happen to be registered and operated out of Macedonia.  Those fake sites in turn get hundreds, perhaps thousands, of fake and bot Twitter accounts to spread out the stories that either support Trump or attack Ted Cruz.

Fake twitter followers, via UK telegraph

Fake twitter followers, via UK telegraph

Donald Trump is no stranger to having the word fake associated with him and Twitter. Back in February the UK Telegraph ran a story about how many fake Twitter followers each of the Presidential candidates have. Trump was 2nd, behind Hillary Clinton in the number of fake followers.

Trump, and his inner circle then use those fake stories, or retweet them from the fake followers, spreading the made up propaganda even further.

That incestuous relationship was on full display Friday when the Daily Caller ran an op-ed by Trump hatchet man Roger Stone. In the op-ed, Stone repeatedly cites TheConservativeTreehouse.com as the sole basis for his accusation that Mark Levin, Glen Beck, and Erick Erickson support Ted Cruz solely because the GOP establishment is giving them money.

First, everyone should know that TheConservativeTreeHouse is and has been a pro Trump blog all cycle.  Second, Sundance, the TreeHouse’s primary writer, is a major league anti-Semite and he has a personal thing against Mark Levin.(Side note what is it with Trump and getting the support of all these anti-Semite, neo-Nazis, and other white supremacists?)

Earlier this year it was Sundance, writing at the TreeHouse, that tried to make a major issue out of the child of Levin’s fiancée being a member of Ted Cruz’s Senate staff.  Apparently, that family relationship is the only reason why Levin would support a solid, constitutional conservative, Cruz, over the just became a Republican the other week Trump.  Guess, Sundance, was unaware that Mark Levin supported Cruz when he first ran for the Senate, long before he became engaged, and long before that fiancées kid could work in Cruz’s Senate office.

Sundance has done a number of other things to let his anti-semite ankle show.

Another thing that should be known about the TreeHouse is they love to say that everyone is being given money from the establishment, and that then is the reason why the subject of their hit piece is opposed to the great and wonderful Donald Trump.

The piece Stone cites in his Daily Caller op-ed, lumps everything together, Levin got money from Jim DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund, Erickson gets money from the Ricketts family who own the Chicago Cubs, a GOP operative works with Beck, thus the establishments bought these guys off which is why they all back Cruz.

Like I said there is a bunch of garbage on the internet that needs to be clean up, no thanks to the Trump supporters.

First of all Earth to Sundance and Stone, Jim DeMint is one of the most principled conservative leaders of our generation. Another thing the Senate Conservatives Fund is not some part of the establishment you nitwits, its one of the only organizations in Washington that fights the establishment, and gets CONSERVATIVE candidates elected to office, unlike Trump who finances the GOP establishment(Mitch McConnell) and the worst of the liberal Democrats(Chuck Schumer, Rahm Emanuel).

The rest of the utter nonsense accusations made against Erickson, who by the way left RedState at the start of the year, and Beck aren’t worth it to refute in detail, they are that silly.

This campaign and the internet in general would be a lot better off if the Trump people would just stop sharing the fake stories from Prntly, the anti-semitic conspiracy garbage of Sundance, and someone please take away all platforms for Roger Stone.

Good God the man is openly threatening, here in April months before the convention, to have a “Days of Rage” at the GOP convention in Cleveland and is openly trying to get his fellow Trump supporters to show up at the hotels of delegates to harass them into backing Trump.

If the Secret Service would do its job they wouldn’t let Stone in the state of Ohio during the convention(better if they keep him out of the continental US).

I know cleaning up the internet after the Trump supporters is a dirty job but somebody’s got to do it.

Mark Levin Endorses Ted Cruz

This is YUGE!!!

The Great One, Mark Levin; the nationally syndicated talk show host, #1 best selling author, editor-in-chief of Conservative Review, host of the brand new LevinTV, tonight officially gave his endorsement to Ted Cruz to be our next President.

Levin is a former Reagan administration official, including having been chief of staff to AG Ed Meese, and has been president of Landmark Legal Foundation for many years.

Tennessee Legislature Approves Article V Application

conventionThursday the Tennessee legislature became the first state in 2016 to approve an Article V application calling for a Convention of States to propose reform amendments to the Constitution that would reign in a run away federal government.

Tennessee’s actions come weeks after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott unveiled his Texas Plan to convince state legislatures around the country to join in the state based effort to fix the messes Washington DC has created.

The Article V movement has gained momentum in recent years following the publication of best selling author and nationally syndicated talk show host Mark Levin’s book The Liberty Amendments which spells out how and why state legislatures need to take advantage of the second means by which to amend the Constitution. It takes two-thirds of the state legislatures to call for a Convention under Article V. As with amendments proposed by two-thirds of the members of Congress, and amendment that came out of the Article V Convention would still require ratification by three-fourths of the states.

Tennessee joins Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Alaska in filing for an Article V convention specifically seeking to restore the system of checks and balances on the federal government, over the last 30 years about 20 other states have submitted Article V applications solely seeking to advance a balanced budget amendment.

In addition to Gov. Abbott, GOP presidential candidates Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, and the recently dropped out Mike Huckabee have all given the endorsement to the Article V process, Rubio being the most recent doing so in a major op-ed.

Mark Levin: Rep. Kinzinger Dishonest, Disingenuous, RINO Sellout

Mark Levin

Mark Levin

Thursday night nationally syndicated talk show host and best-selling conservative author Mark Levin did something to make this Tea Party blogger smile, he let his massive national audience know the truth about someone I’ve been trying to expose to the whole country as the “Dishonest”, “Disingenuous”, RINO sellout that he is, congressman Adam Kinzinger.

As Kinzinger’s only real critic in Illinois, and certainly within the expansive 16th congressional district(Outside of AM 560’s Joe Walsh) I give thanks to God almighty every time Levin mentions the disgraceful fraud Kinzinger because even brief mentions educate more and more people, above and beyond what I do here at USofArn.com, to the charlatan tactics of the GOPe, and the fraud that posses as my Representative in Congress.

The same goes for the folks running RedState when they promote one of my stories on Kinzinger to front page status, dittos for Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit, and most recently Mike Flynn and Dan Riehl at Breitbart who picked up several weeks ago on the email Kinzinger’s office sent to a constituent defending Islamic Sharia Law which was broken here first.

Why is it so important that conservatives, Tea Partiers, and Republicans the nation over know about one Illinois congressman with a 36% rating from Conservative Review?

Well, I’ll let Mark tell you:

“You want to know who one of the most disingenuous members of the House of Representatives is? He’s a Republican by the name of Adam Kinzinger. He’s on Fox all the time particularly Greta Van what’s her name(I will add Brian Kilmeade, Bill Hemmer, and Andrea Tantaros as well). And Kinzinger ran as a full-throated Tea Party conservative. Now he is a full-throated complete sellout, he’s a RINO. He has actually endorsed Jeb! Bush. This is what you are sick of people who are dishonest in order to get elected.”

What makes Kinzinger even worse than what Mark Levin describes is the fact that Kinzinger has used his position and his oversized media profile to attack the Tea Party and conservatives every chance he gets. Kinzinger has repeatedly attacked by name Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul long before either was a presidential candidate. As Jeb!’s presidential campaign has circled the drain Kinzinger has faithfully gone on the attack against Donald Trump, to the point of joining others establishment Republicans in expressing extreme reluctance in voting for Trump should be get the nomination. Kinzinger in an op-ed earlier this year even took the back of his hand to conservative talk radio and websites such as mine for being critical of him and his fellow RINOs, because we only do it for the money you see.

Kinzinger doesn’t like the “loud and angry voices” that have dominated the current election cycle, as he puts it, probably because those loud and angry voices object to the things he covets most; amnesty for illegal immigrants, the continuation of the corporate welfare of the Export-Import Bank, and point out the folly of his desire to see the US military forcibly remove Bashar Assad from Syria which is Kinzinger’s big solution to the ISIS scourge, that and President Obama giving an oval office speech.

I regret that I, and other conservative leaders inside the 16th district failed to recruit a viable challenger to primary Kinzinger and take on his million plus dollar war chest, and thus Kinzinger will skate by the upcoming Illinois primary on March 15th, and could very well not even face a Democrat challenger as none filled to run in that primary, Democrat county chairmen do have the option of nominating someone to challenge him, but even if they did the district was drawn so heavily Republican by Boss Michael Madigan such a challenger would be easily crushed.

So the only option left is to continue to expose Adam and his real record and provide that eventual primary challenger the ammunition they need to defeat this RINO fraud.

With The Support Of Sen. Rubio And Texas Gov. Abbott An Article V Convention Is Gaining Steam

Gov. Greg Abbott(R-TX)

Gov. Greg Abbott(R-TX)

Speaking at a public policy meeting in Austin, Texas Friday Gov. Greg Abbott released his “Texas Plan” a 100 page package of 9 potential amendments to the Constitution that would restore liberty and revive the system of checks and balances in our federal government.

Abbott’s plan echo’s that of nationally syndicated talk show host and author of the best selling The Liberty Amendments Mark Levin, in that they call on the state legislatures to use Article V of the constitution to call for a convention of states to debate and propose amendments for possible ratification by three-fourths of the states.  In order for an Article V convention to be called two-thirds of the state legislatures need to submit applications calling for one.

Abbott is the second major political figure in recent weeks to embrace the use of Article V to advance such things as congressional and judicial term limits, a balanced budget amendment, and other measures that would restore the powers of the states and to curtail the power of the federal government.  Prior to Abbott Florida Senator and GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio also endorsed the notion of an Article V convention.  Fellow GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has long been a fan of the Article V convention process.

To counter the phony claims that such a convention could “run away” Gov. Abbott explicitly calls for the agenda for any convention to be set in advance and that the convention itself should not discuss anything that isn’t permitted by the state legislatures.  Should any such proposal make it to the convention under Abbott’s plan the whole Texas delegation and participation in the convention would be terminated.

Breitbart Texas has more:

Abbott said “Our government was founded on the rule of law rather the caprice of man. That rule of law flows from our Constitution. That Constitutional foundations is now so often ignored that the Founders would hardly recognize it. Until we fix that foundation by restoring the rule of law all the repairs we seek through the policies you propose will never lead to lasting solutions.”

Abbott noted the acts of this week “show cracks in our Constitutional foundation.” He cited President Obama’s action threatening Second Amendment rights even though the Bill of Rights and the Constitution was designed to protect Americans from invasions of their liberties.

“The problem is these departures from the Constitution are not the aberration, they are now the norm,” the governor charged. He said the President has repeatedly exceeded his executive powers to impose far-reaching and heavy-handed regulations on everything from climate change to healthcare reform and immigration.

The governor also reprimanded the U.S. Congress, adding, “Congress is no better. They used to consider whether a proposed law could be squared with Congress’ Constitutionally enumerated powers.” He said, “Today’s approach is captured by the former Speaker of House. When asked to identify the Constitutional authority for Obamacare she angrily replied: ‘Are you serious?’”

Not to leave the nation’s highest court unrebuked, Abbott said the U.S. Supreme Court is a co-conspirator in abandoning the Constitution. He said, “Instead of applying laws as written, it embarrassingly strains to rewrite laws like Obamacare.” He accused the Supreme Court of frequently departing from the Constitution and amending it by adding words and concepts that are not found in the Constitution.

These increasingly frequent departures from the Constitution are destroying the Rule of Law upon which this country is founded, Abbott said. “We are succumbing the caprice of man that our Founders fought to escape.”

He said the only cure for these overreaches by the federal government and its judiciary is that the states must lead the way. Abbott said these problems will not be cured by Washington, D.C.

To date the state legislatures in Florida, Georgia, Alaska, and Alabama have signed on to an Article V convention like that envisioned by Gov. Abbott and Mark Levin.

*Update: Here are Gov. Abbott’s 9 proposed amendments H/T Twitchy:

I really like #6 requiring a 7 vote majority on the Supreme Court to strike down any law enacted by the states or Congress.

The rest appear to be shorter or condensed versions of what was called for in Mark Levin’s Liberty Amendments

Rubio In Iowa: Ted Cruz A Neo-Isolationist

Sen. Marco Rubio(R-FL)

Sen. Marco Rubio(R-FL)

During a campaign stop in West Des Moines, Iowa Thursday to talk about reforms to the VA health care system and defense spending GOP presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio continued his attacks on Ted Cruz as being weak on national security calling Cruz a neo-isolationist.

For weeks now Rubio has been attacking Cruz for voting for a 5 year balanced budget plan offered by fellow GOP presidential candidate Rand Paul, that Rubio says would gut the military.  Rubio has also taken to attacking Cruz for his support of the USA Freedom Act which made the NSA’s bulk meta data collection program comply with the 4th amendment.  Hardly things that warrant labeling someone an isolationist. If anything those votes show Cruz to be fiscally minded and a constitutionalist.

From the Quad City Times:

“At the end of the day on these (national security) issues that we face in this campaign, in each instance which Sen. Cruz — and others, not just him — have been given a choice between neo-isolationism or the defense of our country, he’s chosen neo-isolationism,” Rubio said. “Whether it’s weakening our intelligence-gathering capabilities or voting against the defense bills or voting for a budget that substantially reduces our defense spending.”

Rubio said he can advocate for more defense spending without eschewing the GOP’s tenet of fiscal responsibility.

“I don’t believe they’re in conflict. I think it’s an issue of prioritization,” Rubio said. “As I’ve said repeatedly, I think the most important priority of the federal government should be national defense. And we should fully fund our defense needs before we do anything else.”

As Mark Levin pointed out in a great piece at Conservative Review earlier this week it is Rubio not Cruz who is weak on national security, mainly because of Rubio’s past support of amnesty and his current refusal to put a halt to the importation of Syria refugees.

On the campaign trail Cruz has been adamant about annihilating the Islamo-Nazi threat of ISIS, hardly the view of a “neo-isolationist”.

If anything the only GOP presidential candidate that is in any way isolationist in his foreign policy views it would be Sen. Rand Paul, and that almost exclusively steams from the broader philosophical differences with libertarians and everyone else.

As far as Rubio is concerned he has been more in line with, and has agreed with, the reckless military interventionism of Senators Lindsey Graham and John McCain, such as the Hillary Clinton lead overthrow of Qaddafi in Libya which has resulted in the country descending into chaos and has allowed it to become a breeding group for ISIS and Al Qaeda terrorists.

Rubio is desperate to bring Cruz down, because Rubio is the GOP establishments last hope of denying the 2016 Republican presidential nomination to the outsiders(Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, and Donald Trump), and Heaven forbid a conservative, a Reaganite, like Cruz become our 45th President.
