Ted Cruz spoke tonight at the RNC convention in Cleveland.
Apparently the Trumpsters didn’t like it because he talked about things bigger than Trump.
Well their loss.
Ted Cruz spoke tonight at the RNC convention in Cleveland.
Apparently the Trumpsters didn’t like it because he talked about things bigger than Trump.
Well their loss.
Today was the first day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, and the first order of business was for the entire Republican National Committee and Donald Trump supporters to turn it into a clown show, by repeatedly denying a roll call vote on the convention floor over the convention rules.
As RedState has been reporting all day; First the Secretary of the convention went into hiding to keep #NeverTrump forces from filing petitions seeking to force a roll call floor vote on the convention rules.
Then one of Priebus’ underlings, Steve Womack, attempted to rubber stamp the rules that the RNC and Trump’s team forced out of the rules committee late last week with a voice vote.
When it became clear in the ensuing chaos that there was more support for a roll call than rubber stamping, Womack attempted a second voice vote, declaring the Yea’s have it.
Only one problem as the audio and video clearly show, the Nay’s, those wanting a roll call, were in the majority(at least vocally).
From there things ended up back at the petition to force a roll call vote, where CNN’s Dana Bash reported Trump and RNC officials twisted the arms of state delegations backing the roll call vote forcing 3 states to drop out(as the RNC puts it), leaving the roll call forces 1 state short of the number needed to press the issue.
All of this led Virginia delegate, and Cruz supporter, Ken Cuccinelli, toss throw down his credentials and storm out of the Quicken Loans arena. Reports are that the Iowa, Colorado, and Virginia delegations have all walked out of this clown show.
Reince Priebus, Steve Womack, Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, and the rest of the RNC and Trump teams have since the rules committee meet last week been actively working to suppress all possible opposition to Trump nomination just as feverishly as Turkey’s Islamist Fascist Erdogan has been purge his country of opposition.
This clown show of a convention(and its only Monday), the way the RNC and its leadership have been acting and behaving, and the long-standing goon and bully tactics of the Trump campaign team, should be reason enough for every Republican leaning voter to demand that Reince and every one else at the RNC must resign immediately.
If this debacle of a convention continues on its current pace by Thursday night there won’t be a Republican Party; we’ll have the Trumpsters, the GOP establishment, and conservatives all splintering off into their own parties/camps, and there will probably never be any reconciliation in any of our lifetimes.
Congratulations Reince and the RNC, your protectionism of Trump, and Trump himself, is going to kill the GOP long before we ever get to November.
God, deliver us from this hellish nightmare and bless Ted Cruz with the GOP presidential nomination; this country can’t take much more Trump.
On Friday during a taping for Iowa Public Television Iowa Republican Party chairman Jeff Kaufmann announced that he has apparently rewritten Iowa’s delegate rules and that the whole of Iowa’s delegation to the GOP convention in Cleveland will all vote for Donald Trump.
From the Quad Cities Times:
Kaufmann conceded that Iowa Republicans are in “various degrees” in their support for Trump. Some are thrilled, some are accepting, and “we have people who are in the process.”
The “never Trump” movement, however, is a “tiny, tiny little minority of people with large megaphones,” he said.
Suggestions that the Iowa delegation will cast some of its votes for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who was the caucus winner, or some other candidate is “hypocritical … nonsensical, and it’s not going to happen,” he said. “Donald Trump is our nominee.”
This is news to Iowa delegates and alternates given that Iowa is a proportional delegation state, and Donald Trump did not win its February 1st caucus, that was won by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Kaufmann went on to say that the Iowa delegation would only be broken down by caucus results if the convention in Cleveland follows the rules at acknowledges that delegates are bound on the 1st ballot to Sen. Cruz, Gov. Kasich, and Sen. Rubio.
Mr. Kaufmann was also very dismissive of the #NeverTrump movement:
People who “feel the need to have that internal, heartfelt, passionate conversation in front of cameras and in front of journalists (are) bent on self-promotion and could care less about our first-in-the-nation status and the integrity of our process,” Kaufmann said Friday after taping Iowa Public Television’s “Iowa Press” program
Delegates to the GOP convention in Cleveland that Mr. Kaufmann is apparently forcing to vote for Trump regardless of the Iowa caucus and its rules include Cecil Stinemetz who wrote an op-ed recently that explained why he would never, ever give his support to Donald Trump and he wrote in part, “Delegates have a huge responsibility and we are the only ones that can stop a disaster that will happen to our party and our nation if Republicans nominate Donald Trump.”
Iowa’s delegation is supposed to be 8 for Ted Cruz, 7 each for Marco Rubio and Donald Trump and 1 for John Kasich, that is what should happen under the rules Mr. Kaufmann. Donald Trump doesn’t need protecting. You don’t have the right to suffocate the conscience of those who are #NeverTrump, And you certainly should not be allowed to make up the rules as you go.
Protecting the Bill of Rights, growing the economy, defeating the Islamo-Nazis, dealing with the nations nearly $20 trillion national debt and $100 trillion in unfunded liabilities for entitlement programs requires a strong leader.
Defeating the Clinton Crime Family, the liberal media, the unions, and the advocates of amnesty and open borders(plus the pro abort) takes money, organization, grassroots support.
As the evidence is showing it is a tall mountain to climb for Donald Trump to accomplish that all important objective of defeating Hillary.
Internal data from a new CNN poll shows that 48% of Republican voters want someone other than Trump with less than a month to go until the GOP convention in Cleveland.
This comes after reports of how absolutely little money the Trump campaign has, and its complete lack of any fundraising capability. Making matters worse for Trump is that expenditure reports show he gives a lot of what money his campaign is spending on Trump brand companies and on Trump himself and his family. Yes Trump is paying himself a salary from his campaign to run for President. It is so bad for Trump that in the month of May Ted Cruz, who dropped out of the race following the Indiana primary at the start of the month, out raised him substantially and still has more cash on hand than Trump does.
It is enough to rekindle the talk Hugh Hewitt started of the delegates and alternate delegates to the convention in some way dumping Trump and selecting someone else.
On Tuesday Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said that delegates should vote their conscience at the convention:
I think historically, not just this year, delegates are and should be able to vote the way they see fit. … We’ll see how things go between now and the convention as to what the next steps are. I’m not going to speculate now only because you all know the situation may change by this afternoon, let alone between now and the convention.
Walker is currently bound to back Ted Cruz at the convention as a Wisconsin delegate due to Cruz’s big win in that state in early April.
Any effort at a coup d’etat at the convention is likely to have a good deal of support given a recent teleconference between delegates and alts opposed to Trump had several hundred members.
Let us not forget that Ted Cruz was sweeping up the delegates prior to his dropping out of the race, meaning that the convention floor is going to be filled with a large number of conservatives and Tea Partiers who would be receptive to any effort that might seek to replace Trump with a much better candidate, like say Ted Cruz.
We know Hillary Clinton as President will be a disaster for our country and would cement the damage done to our Republic by Barack Obama. We also know Donald Trump is Herbert Hoover on steroids. Something called the Great Depression happened in large part because of the policies of Hoover, who was a protectionist like Trump, what will happen if Trump’s trade war with China happens, are we going to have the Yuge Depression coming out of the Obama malaise.
The American people are hurting. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights hang by a thread. The Republic is in grave peril.
For the love of God; delegates please bring sanity back and do whatever it takes to give the Republican Party nomination to Ted Cruz(or some other solid conservative, none of this Bill Kristol garbage, or Mitt Romney talk.)
This is an op-ed from Iowa Republican national convention delegate Cecil Stinemetz that ran in the QC Times Sunday explaining why he won’t be supporting Donald Trump at all during the July convention in Cleveland:
I am a delegate who will represent Iowa at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. And I will not be voting for or supporting Donald Trump.
This nation is at a tipping point and I believe we must look beyond uniting behind a person only because he has an “R” after his name. I have to decide whether I am more concerned about what people might say or do to me rather than what I need to do in order to help save our nation. Am I going to be more concerned about Iowa’s first in the nation status or saving the nation from a disastrous mistake in nominating Donald Trump?
Many of us have been saying for months that the media will turn on Trump once he gets the nomination, and they are doing so now, thinking he is the nominee.
He went on to conclude:
Delegates have a huge responsibility and we are the only ones that can stop a disaster that will happen to our party and our nation if Republicans nominate Donald Trump.
Talk show host Hugh Hewitt, and others like Amanda Carpenter and Erick Erickson have been saying in recent days that the delegates to the convention have to vote their conscience, revolt, reject, vote no confidence, some thing, anything to deny Donald Trump the Republican Party nomination.
Quick side point the Bill Kristol faction of #NeverTrump can go jump off a cliff. David French, Adam Kinzinger, seriously!?
I’m with them there needs to be a Coup d’etat at the convention.
Sanity must prevail.
And I’ll be honest Ted Cruz or a Scott Walker must prevail to save the Republican Party, Conservatism, Constitutionalism, and the nation from Trump and Hillary.
Speaking with 890 WLS’ John Howell Tuesday Illinois RINO congressman Adam Kinzinger said that some people are scared to go to the Convention in Cleveland this July because of the threats of violence coming from Donald Trump and his surrogates.
Kinzinger said, “The thing I worry about is if you take Trump’s own words about violence and repeatedly talking about violence at the convention…And that’s why I think some people are being scared and staying away.”
Threat have been threats of riots, planned harassment and intimidation of delegates at their hotels, and more all from the Trump team, namely hatchet-man Roger Stone, with Trump himself egging it all on with complaints about a rigged system and stolen delegates, and the right to vote being denied.
Delegates in Indiana have reported to police death threats they have received.
And the Trumpsters wonder why there is such a thing as #NeverTrump or why so many keep trying to point out how much Trump resembles William Seward.
Donald Trump and his campaign are well aware of that. As is Ted Cruz and the differences between the two couldn’t be starker.
Cruz has been masterfully working the age-old method of winning, or at least trying to win, the GOP nomination at a contested convention by way of working the delegates so that on 2nd and subsequent ballots more and more delegate votes go your way. It is a strategy that worked to great success in 1860 for Abraham Lincoln, who like Cruz, headed into that convention in 2nd place, behind a front-runner no one liked, but assumed he had the nomination wrapped up. It is a strategy that almost got Ronald Reagan the nomination in 1976 over Gerald Ford. Many a delegates it is said following that convention admitted they made a mistake that day in not nomination Reagan.
So far Cruz has managed to secure 18-20 of North Dakota’s 25 delegates, by way of artfully working within the Republican Party rules and delegate selection processes in each state and territory, where Trump is going to come up with zero delegates.
Arizona, which went for Trump in its recent primary, could see many of its 58 delegates be Cruz supporters or otherwise be inclined to not vote for Trump. As has been widely reported Cruz, working within the party rules in Louisiana, picked up what could be 10 more delegates than Trump, and those delegates hold key positions on key committees at the convention.
Ted Cruz is playing this campaign to win it on the 2nd ballot.
Donald Trump on the other hand is playing the role of a bad spoof parody of Princess Leia asking Obi-wan-Kenobi to save him, only Trump is hoping for Plurality to save him.
Plurality, for those with a public education, is being in the lead of say a field of 17 people all trying to get votes, but not having an outright majority.
Trump and his campaign, Roger Stone included, know that The Donald will not walk into Cleveland with the 1237 delegates needed to win the nomination outright.
They are also realizing right now, that come a 2nd ballot at the convention their candidate is going to shed delegates like crazy, with next to no hope of corralling new ones.
So Team Trump is going to the leftist playbook to try and keep the convention from turning into another shellacking of Trump with Trump campaign hatchet-man Roger Stone saying anywhere and everywhere that he’s planning a Days of Rage, right out history of the Weather Underground and the SDS, to try and turn the convention and possibly all of Cleveland into Chaos central.
Grasping at that straw probably means that they have no faith in their savior play, getting the majority of delegates, plus one, equals being the nominee rule changed to being a plurality wins.
As Trump told CNN a couple weeks ago on the topic:
I think we’ll win before getting to the convention, but if we didn’t and we’re 20 votes short, or we’re, you know, a hundred short, and we’re at 1,100 and somebody else is at 500 or 400, ’cause we’re way ahead of everybody, I don’t think you can say we don’t get it automatically. I think you’d have riots.” Trump added that “if you disenfranchise those people . . . I think you would have problems like you’ve never seen before.
The Trump spokes-morons have been echoing those same sentiments.
Even the Trumpist loyalist who were elected as his delegates in Illinois are scrambling because they have no idea what the campaign needs or wants them to do at the convention in July, and this comes after the Trump campaign in Illinois imploded the last two weeks before the March 15th primary.
This is a campaign about to fall flat on its face, on the biggest stage imaginable, right before the finish line. And everyone can see it coming.
Last month investigative journalist James O’Keefe dressed himself up as Osama Bin Laden and repeatedly walked across the US-Mexico border in Texas revealing just how insecure our souther border is.
Today James and his Project Veritas have released video of James dressed up as an ISIS terrorist crossing from Canada into Cleveland across Lake Erie using a boat.
During yesterdays coverage of the Boston marathon bombing MSNBC host Chris Matthews said, “Normally domestic terrorists, people, tend to be on the far right.”
Time to educate Chris Matthews about some left wing domestic terrorist.
First up Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, and the other members of the Weather Underground who in the 70s and into the 80s committed dozens of bombings across the country. Some of the groups targets included the pentagon, State Department, New York City police, Judges, military recruiting centers, and many others. From a FBI document on the group:
Twenty-nine years ago Thursday, an explosion rocked the headquarters of the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C. No one was hurt, but the damage was extensive, impacting twenty offices on three separate floors. Hours later, another bomb was found at a military induction center in Oakland, California, and safely detonated. A domestic terrorist group called the Weather Underground claimed responsibility. Remember them? (emphasis mine)
Who were these extremists? The Weather Underground—originally called the Weathermen, taken from a line in a Bob Dylan song—was a small, violent offshoot of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), created in the turbulent ‘60s to promote social change.
When the SDS collapsed in 1969, the Weather Underground stepped forward, inspired by communist ideologies and embracing violence and crime as a way to protest the Vietnam War, racism, and other left-wing aims. “Our intention is to disrupt the empire…to incapacitate it, to put pressure on the cracks,” claimed the group’s 1974 manifesto, Prairie Fire. By the next year, the group had claimed credit for 25 bombings and would be involved in many more over the next several years.
Members of Bill Ayers band of domestic terrorist would kill 2 armed guards and a police officer during a Brinks armored truck robbery. Three members of the group would kill themselves when their Greenwich Village townhouse bomb factory exploded.
As Chris Matthews is a product of the 60s and 70s he should remember or be aware of all of the acts of terrorism committed during that time by groups like the Black Panthers and Vietnam war protesters.
Anyone in law enforcement who knows anything about domestic terrorism will immediately rush to talk about the number one domestic terrorism threat facing this nation, Eco-terrorism committed by radical environmentalist. These greenies have committed major cases of arson in Arizona and Colorado, mass vandalism in California, sabotaged logging equipment in Oregon with the potential for causing death and injury to workers, and much more.
More recently we have the attempted acts of terrorism by members of Occupy Wall Street. In Ohio 5 occupiers were arrested for plotting to blow up a bridge near Cleveland. From the UK Daily Mail:
Five men, at lease three of them self-described anarchists, have been arrested in an alleged plot to blow up a bridge near Cleveland, the FBI said today.
A member of Occupy Cleveland revealed that at least some of the suspects had attended the group’s events, sparking concerns that some supporters of the anti-capitalist movement could turn to violence.
But there was no danger to the public in the bridge-bombing plot because the explosive devices were inoperable and were controlled by an undercover FBI employee, the agency said.
Closer to home, for me, is the case of three occupiers charged with attempting to use Molotov cocktails during the NATO summit in Chicago last year. From ABC News:
Three men accused of building Molotov cocktails were also planning attacks at President Obama’s Chicago campaign headquarters and at the home of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel during the NATO Summit, prosecutors said.
Brian Church, 20, of Ft. Lauderdale Fla., 24-year-old Vincent Betterly of Oakland Park, Fla., and 24-year-old Jared Chase of Keene, N.H. have all been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit terrorism, providing support for terrorism and possession of an explosive or incendiary device.
“These men were here to hurt people,” Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said in a news conference.
The defendants are self-proclaimed members of the “Black Bloc” group.
In addition to materials to make molotov cocktails, police say the defendants had various weapons, including a mortar gun, swords, a hunting bow, throwing stars, knives, brass knucles.
This is but the tip of the iceberg of left wing domestic terrorism but I think Chrissy Matthews should be educated by now.
