Michael Madigan And John Cullerton Have Used $3.5 Million In Campaign Funds For Cubs, Bulls, And White Sox Season Tickets

Michael Madigan(D-Chicago)

Michael Madigan(D-Chicago)

With playoff baseball in Chicago and a critical election just around the corner an examination of Illinois Board of Elections campaign reports by USofArn.com shows that the states two most powerful legislative leaders Speaker Michael Madigan(D-Chicago) and Senate President John Cullerton(D-Chicago) have spent a combined $3.5 million from their campaign funds to purchase season tickets for the Chicago Cubs, Bulls, and White Sox dating back to 1999. They are the only two lawmakers to make such purchases according to state records.

Michael Madigan’s spokesman Steve Brown told USofArn that the Speaker used some of those  tickets to attend games with his friends and family, which includes his daughter Lisa Madigan the states Attorney General. Despite multiple attempts Mr. Brown hasn’t responded any further to questions family-video-internetabout Speaker Madigan’s campaign spending(Which includes how and why he spent more than $700 at a Springfield Family Video for internet service from 1999-2003 when they’ve never offered that service).

Chicago residents learned earlier in the MLB post season that Chicago politicians were given special access to Cubs playoff tickets as they try to break the teams 108 year World Series curse.

madigan cubs playoffsIn the last decade and a half, using a combination of his Friends of Michael Madigan and 13th Democratic Ward campaign funds Madigan has shelled out $1.25 million for Cubs tickets, including post season tickets in previous years, over madigan-cubs-3q-2016$933,000 for White Sox season tickets, playoff tickets, and all-star game tickets, and another $423,610 for Bulls season tickets. There were also $23,000 in unspecified season ticket purchases by Madigan to the University of Notre Dame, which for the geography challenged is in Indiana, not Illinois. Just in the latest 3rd quarter report Madigan used more than $42,000 in campaign funds to purchase Cubs tickets.

cullerton-soxs-2016John Cullerton, who became President of the Illinois Senate in 2009, used more than $418,000 from his campaign fund for Cubs tickets, over $300,000 for White Sox tickets, and another $178,954 for Bulls tickets from the first quarter of this year going back to 1999.

reinsdorf-tixCampaign records also show that in the Summer of 2004 Michael Madigan bought nearly $500 worth of White Sox tickets off of team owner Jerry Reinsdorf, who also owns the Chicago Bulls.

Records also show Sen. Cullerton used over $18,000 in campaign funds for unspecified tickets from Stub Hub, plus another $7,000 for more unspecified tickets from other ticket vendors, to go along with nearly $8,000 worth of Chicago Bears tickets and over $10,000 in unnamed event tickets at the United Center.

One Illinois lawmaker who wished anonymity couldn’t stop laughing at how brazen Madigan and Cullerton were with this misuse of campaign funds especially given the ongoing campaign spending scandal involving Illinois Auditor General Frank Mautino, who spent 24 years in the state legislature as a top Madigan lieutenant. Mautino is under state and federal investigation for half a million dollars in questionable spending at his home town gas station and bank.

It is supposed to be against Illinois campaign spending law(s) for a politician to use their campaign funds for personal gain.

Chicago Dem State Rep. Introduces Bill To Tax And Put Serial Numbers On Ammo

gunOn Monday Chicago Democrat state Rep. Sonya Harper filled HB 6615 that would require that all handgun ammunition kept, sold, or used in the state of Illinois starting in 2018 would have to have serial numbers, anyone in possession of unserialized ammo would face misdemeanor charges.  Harper’s bill would also establish a state registry for ammunition and sales with the Illinois State Police and impose a half a penny tax per round on ammo sold in the Illinois.

The synopsis of the bill:

Provides that beginning January 1, 2018, all handgun ammunition that is manufactured, imported into the State for sale or personal use, kept for sale, offered or exposed for sale, sold, given, lent, or possessed shall be serialized. Provides that beginning January 1, 2018, any person who manufactures, causes to be manufactured, imports into the State for sale or personal use, keeps for sale, offers or exposes for sale, or who gives or lends any handgun ammunition that is not serialized is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. Provides that beginning January 1, 2018, any person who possesses in any public place any handgun ammunition that is not serialized is guilty of a Class C misdemeanor. Provides exceptions. Provides that beginning January 1, 2018, the Department of State Police shall maintain a centralized registry of all reports of handgun ammunition transactions reported to the Department in a manner prescribed by the Department. Provides that information in the registry, upon proper application for that information, shall be furnished to peace officers and authorized employees of the Department of State Police or to the person listed in the registry as the owner of the particular handgun ammunition. Provides that the Department of State Police shall adopt rules relating to the assessment and collection of end-user fees in an amount not to exceed $0.005 per round of handgun ammunition or per bullet, in which the accumulated fee amount may not exceed the cost to pay for the infrastructure, implementation, operational, enforcement, and future development costs of these provisions. Effective January 1, 2018, except some provisions effective immediately.

There have been more than 570 murders so far in Chicago this year, with well over 3,000 wounded. This past weekend saw 8 people killed and another 40 wounded.

This horrific amount of crime is almost all the result of young black men shooting and killing or wounding other young blacks with illegal guns in a city that used to ban handgun ownership until that was found to be unconstitutional by the Courts. Chicago continues a near de facto ban on gun stores within city limits by way of zoning ordinances after the Courts again found the cities outright ban on them unconstitutional.  Chicago is so anti-gun that Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Amazon.com have teamed up to keep little kids from getting toys in the city, right as everyone gears up for the Christmas shopping season.

Making hunters, the states tens of thousands of concealed carry permit holders, or any other law-abiding gun owner put serial numbers on their ammunition won’t do diddley squat about the Chicago’s gang and drug violence problem.

If Rep. Harper wants to do something about Chicago’s(or Rockford’s) crime problem do something about the lack of fathers in these punk kids lives, do something about a culture that promotes violence, fix the Chicago court system so that shooting suspects aren’t back out on the street before the inks dry, that and so much more would do wonders for Chicago’s violent streets; putting serial numbers on everyone’s ammo is just a great way to get another Illinois anti-gun law squashed by the Courts for being unconstitutional.

Tea Party Congressional Candidate Gets Dem Vote Rigging Stopped In Illinois

Patrick Harlan

Patrick Harlan

Knox county Tea Party leader and Republican congressional candidate in Illinois’ 17th district Patrick Harlan and the Liberty Justice Center scored a major victory in Federal court to stop Democrat efforts to rig the vote ahead of the November 8th Presidential election.

During the 2014 lame duck session Illinois Democrat Party boss and Speaker of the House Michael Madigan ushered throw a new same day voter registration law that required counties with populations of more than 100,000 to let people register to vote at all polling places on election day. Of the 102 counties in Illinois many have populations well under that threshold, there are several Illinois counties with populations of less than 10,000. Those counties with lower populations only are required to have a central same day registration site under the law.

This obviously allows Democrats to maximize their voter turn out and vote totals in Chicago and Cook county in favor of Hillary Clinton and congresswoman Tammy Duckworth who is running for the US Senate.  As Republican statewide office seekers have known for a long time in Illinois it doesn’t matter how Illinois 101 other counties vote, everything is determined by Chicago and Cook county.

On Tuesday Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan agreed with arguments made by Harlan(whose is facing Rep. Cheri Bustos) and the Liberty Justice Center that the Madigan same day registration law was unconstitutional and disenfranchised the vote of residents of the states many rural counties.

Yehiayan wrote, “while it may be true that the polling place registration option can assist voters in certain populous counties, that option cannot be provided at the expense of lower population counties, thereby decreasing their political representation in Illinois.

Judge Yehiayan continued, “The application of this legislation favors the urban citizen and dilutes the vote of the rural citizen,” wrote Der-Yeghiayan, who added, “Illinois is made up of more than the Chicago metropolitan area and other high population areas. Equality under the law does not end at the city limits.”

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan(Speaker Madigan’s daughter) has said that she will appeal the ruling.

Jacob Huebert of the Liberty Justice Center said in a press release,

Today the court recognized the unfairness of guaranteeing a voting right to some voters but not others. The court ruled that if Illinois is going to have Election Day voter registration at polling places, it should be available statewide – and it should be fair. The government shouldn’t make it harder for people in some parts of the state to register and vote. If Illinois wants to provide Election Day voter registration at the polls, it can do so in a way that’s fair and equal. Six other states, including Illinois’ neighbors Wisconsin and Iowa, give all of their citizens the right to register and vote at their local polling places; they don’t favor voters in some counties over voters in other counties. We’re pleased the court affirmed that everyone has right to the same opportunity to vote.”

As it stands the ruling gives Gov. Bruce Rauner and his allies better chances of picking up a few seats in the state legislature; any GOP gains would end Speaker Madigan’s veto-proof super-majority.  The ruling is not likely to help Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who was in the Chicagoland area Wednesday, much as Hillary Clinton is still widely expected to win the heavily blue state, although her margin of victory is probably going to be diminished due to the courts actions. This court order might also be the only thing that can save Sen. Mark Kirk’s bacon.

Congresswoman Bustos has had no comment on the court ruling, although she will probably fire off a bunch of fundraising emails about it; she has more than $2 million in the bank, Patrick Harlan’s campaign is broke(donate here).

Voters across Illinois owe Patrick Harlan and the Liberty Justice Center a huge debt of gratitude for taking a small bite out of the Madigan machine and for making it a little easier to have fair(er) elections this November.

Chicago Tribune Reporter Wants To Ban All Semi-Auto Rifles And Pistols, Shotguns, And Large Capacity Mags

gunIn a column that appeared on the Chicago Tribunes  website Tuesday reporter Dahleen Glanton, mocking the first day of the Trump conventions theme of “Make America Safe Again”, openly called for the banning of all semi-automatic rifles and pistols, shotguns, most rifle accessories, and large capacity magazines.

Glanton also used her piece to blame “Assault Rifles” for the murders of 5 Dallas police officers and 3 Baton Rouge cops by two radical black separatists, who were former members of the US military. Glanton wrote, “Let’s not pretend that the Black Lives Matter movement is responsible for these murders. The real culprits are assault weapons.”

Guess Glanton hasn’t seen the videos or the social media posts of BLM radicals openly calling for the killing of police officers that have been a nearly daily occurence in the two years since the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

Later Glanton openly called for banning practically every single modern firearm in existence writing; “We can never be safe from outside attacks until we have figured out how to protect ourselves from within. That means ridding our cities of semi-automatic rifles, pistols, shotguns and large capacity ammunition magazines….No Americans need to be able to walk around with rifles equipped with telescoping stocks, barrel shrouds and detachable magazines.”

Glanton continued, “Indeed, law-abiding citizens, such as Johnson and Long(the Dallas and Baton Rouge cop killers), are the ones Second Amendment laws are designed to protect. Only a federal ban on assault rifles and other semi-automatic weapons could have kept them from obtaining such high-powered weapons.”

Glanton also encouraged her readers to contact members of Congress to demand that they do something along those lines to stop gun violence by melting down their phone lines and flooding their email in boxes with demands to scuttle the 2nd amendment.

As Glanton should be painfully aware, reporting from Gun Violence Central, aka Chicago, that virtually all of the violence and crime committed with a gun in this country is via a handgun, not semi-automatic rifles; there is no such thing as an assault rifle, a rifle is a rifle, assault is assault.

Being in/from Chicago Glanton should also know that banning firearms, doesn’t work. The city of Chicago for many years outright banned the ownership of handguns, and still the city’s South and West sides were plagued by gang and drug violence on a daily basis.  Despite court rulings the city of Chicago still maintains an effective ban on gun stores in the city limits. And still the criminal element in Chicago was plenty of weapons by which young black and hispanic men use to kill other young blacks and Hispanics(male and female).

The problem Mrs. Glanton isn’t semi-auto rifles, or handguns.

The real problem is the African-American culture in the nations urban centers, gangs, drug dealing, a pathetic public education system, and a total breakdown of the two parent household and basic parenting, i.e discipline, that is what is causing the gun violence in Chicago and elsewhere.

The Black Lives Matter movements war on cops, the open hostility towards law enforcement it has fomented, and liberal Democrats like President Obama, and Hillary Clinton calling cops racists, isn’t helping matters any.

Mrs. Glanton can wish to ban modern firearms all she wants, but it won’t have any impact on the real root causes of the violence problem in the African-American community.

If every parent/grandparent of a gang member in Chicago took said gang banger across their knee and spanked their hides raw until they promised(crying) to never be a part of a gang ever again, that would actually do something to help the situation.

The Next Islamic Terror Attack Is Likely To Happen In Chicago

ISIS threats against Chicago and White House

ISIS threats against Chicago and White House

Fort Hood, Boston, Chattanooga, San Bernardino, Orlando.

Over the course of the Obama administration Islamic terrorist have kept hitting us here at home.

Those above mentioned terrorist attacks all took place at the hands of radicalized Muslim-Americans, with San Bernardino and Orlando being done in the name of ISIS.

While the ongoing threat of more “Lone Wolf” is very real, the next evolution of Islamic terrorism, something ISIS has openly said it plans and intends to use, is the carrying out of an attack by one or more terrorists who have embedded themselves among the refugees fleeing Syria, Iraq, and Libya.

It is sadly all to likely that when such an attack takes place it will happen in and around Chicago.

Illinois Review has new federal data which shows Illinois has received the 5th most Syrian refugees from 2014 tell April of this year 236, 157 relocating to Chicago and 42 heading to Rockford, with 24 going to Aurora. Michigan has taken in the most with 367. The Obama administration has hoped to bring 10,000 Syrians into the country and some Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Illinois Senate candidate Rep. Tammy Duckworth want to bring in even more.

In recent years multiple people have been arrested at O’Hare attempting to leave Chicago for Syria to join ISIS. We know at least one Chicago native has been killed in Syria fighting on behalf of ISIS. A Rockford woman has pleaded guilty to sending money and supplies to ISIS, her 5 co-defendants are awaiting trial in St. Louis. And who can forget the plot by some Chicagoans, one of whom was in the National Guard, to attack the Joliet Armory and leave for Syria to join ISIS.

I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if ISIS has already gotten someone into Chicagoland via the refugee resettlement, which the FBI admits it can’t vet. It may also be likely that a Chicago area native has gone to and been in Syria or Libya for the last several months or year(s) training and has already returned to the Windy City.

As we saw in Orlando there are more soft targets in Chicago and the suburbs than you could possibly hope to list, just an attack on a busy downtown intersection could result in dozens of victims.

I wish I’m never right about this.

19 Arrested Protesting For Higher Taxes In Chicago

terror_arrest_FBIOn Monday the Chicago Police Department arrested 19 people as they protested at the office of the county’s too hedge fund manager Ken Griifin Fox 32 Chicago reports.

The protesters were clamoring for taxes on the rich to be raised, something Democrat Party Boss and Speaker of the House Michael Madigan wants.

The protesters also wanted Illinois Gov. Brucer Rauner to pay more in taxes.

The protest comes as Illinois continues through its 11th month without a budget.

Chicago Looking To Regulate And Tax Airbnb

Airbnb Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and th city council are looking into a new city ordinance that would regulate Airbnb and other renting online services the Chicago Tribune reports.

The new regulations would make anyone who lists their property on Airbnb for more than 90 days to register that property as being commercial as well as impose a 4% tax on the rentals in Chicago.

Residents from certain Chicago neighborhoods like the Gold Coast have been complaining about people using apartments and homes listed on Airbnb as party houses on the weekends and holidays.

Emanuel is getting resistance from some Aldermen who want even more onerous rules placed on the emerging “share economy”:

A group of aldermen is hoping to stop Emanuel from going ahead with the Airbnb ordinance this month so they have time to try to persuade the administration to rework it to include tighter controls.

Ald. Brendan Reilly, of the downtown 42nd Ward, has been complaining for years that his constituents in the many residential high-rises near the lake are dealing with buildings that seem like ghost towns when Chicago’s tourist traffic is low and then turn into fraternity parties when the city’s weather is nice. He expressed frustration with the Emanuel administration’s decision to press ahead with the legislation, saying the city doesn’t have the statistics to fully understand Airbnb’s impact.

“I think the average age of a policy person in the Emanuel administration is about 30,” he said. “So if it’s cool and it’s gee-whiz and it’s connected to an app, let’s make that good. And it’s the same mentality that’s connected to ride-share, any sharing economy.”

Airbnb says that they are lobbying Mayor Emanuel in the hopes of getting more favorable regulations placed in the ordinance that is likely to come up before the city council next week.

#SJW’s Want U-46 School Board Member Jeanette Ward To Resign Over Conservative Beliefs

imageThe Social Justice Warriors and their campaign against conservatives isn’t just being confined to the nations college campuses. The attempts at silencing and removing conservative voices and opinion from public debate and discourse has now reached into suburban Chicago’s U-46 school district where a group of students have started a petition at Change.org asking that one of the boards conservative minority Jeanette Ward resign because she has spoken out against liberal orthodoxy on climate change and LGBT issues at school board meetings to inform the public about why she has voted no on several occasions.

The student petition asking Ward to resign has 358 signatures as of Tuesday. A counter petition supporting Ward and her right to have opinions different than those of liberals had 481 signatures Tuesday.

One of the main reasons the students asking Jeanette Ward to resign give is that she isn’t on board with the cause celeb of the day LGBT issues. In an interview over Mother’s Day weekend Ward said of a group of text books being voted on recently as part of the districts curriculum that, “One of the text books cited a study that said that children of same-sex couples were less gender biased. The inference being that if you’re a heterosexual couple that raises children you’re teaching them to be gender biased.”

In their petition the students asking for Ward to resign say:

We, as students of U-46, object to the actions of school board member Jeanette Ward. We specifically object to her questionably biased opinions expressed time and time again. Her views on minorities, the LGBTQ community, and public education as a whole are extreme, offensive, and detrimental to U-46 and the public school system. We cannot stand for someone who does not believe in global warming as a scientific fact, refutes globalization, denies discrimination, and views the United States as the Paragon of Perfection. Her partisanship and opposition of everything that doesn’t fit her way of life is embarrassing to U-46 and its community. Mrs. Ward claims to be against the indoctrination of U-46 children, while advocating what amounts to indoctrination by ignorance. We cannot tolerate her hypocritical nature in our school district.

In an email Brendon, one of the students leading the effort to get Ward to resign, said that:

We are asking Mrs. Ward to step down because we as students don’t want the type of education she is advocating that we need. The education she is advocating and the bias she brings to the U-46 Board is not something we want. As students, we didn’t have the ability to vote for or against her, so this is our way of using our voice. We do respect the fact that Mrs. Ward does have different views than us. If she wants to not believe in global warming she has every right to do so. What we do not want, however is Mrs. Ward emposing her personal views on our education and trying to indoctrinate us into believing what she wants. We want to ensure a fair and balanenced education to let us choose our viewpoints for ourself, after seeing all the facts to choose from. In order to ensure we get the education we need to succeed in todays global society (which Mrs. Ward has repeatedly said doesn’t even exist), we will go to great lengths, asking for her removal included.

During her interview Ward said that she’d, “Like the people to know, who attack me, that the more they attack me the more these ideas get presented in the public square and the more people support them. Is that what you’re trying to accomplish? Because that’s whats happening.”

Brendon added, “It is important that students be aware of what is going on in their education. That awareness is what prompted us to act to stand up for our education. Standing up for education or against racism in general is incredible noble.”

Ward has said that she will not be resigning or be silenced by the petition effort.

VA Won’t Do Anything About Cockroaches At Hines VA Hospital

Hines VA hospital Chicago, IL

Hines VA hospital Chicago, IL

In a follow up to this prior story, Tori Richards writing at Conservative Review reports that Veterans Administration officials at Chicago’s Hines VA Hospital have told employees there that there is no infestation problem with cockroaches in the hospitals kitchen.

VA inspectors claim that they saw no signs of any cockroach infestation during a recent visit to Hines and they reportedly advised VA employees to continue doing what they’re doing.

VA whistleblower’s at Hines have alleged that VA officials have known for years that there is a severe cockroach infestation in Hines’ kitchen and food preparation areas, with some workers claiming to have had to wipe the roaches off of food.  Patients at the hospital have also complained about having been served roaches with their food.

The VA says that they will continue to monitor the Hines kitchen area and spray as needed.

However, exterminations that Richards spoke with say that the only way to get rid of cockroaches is to open up everything, including walls, and vacuum them out and then treat the area with a sterilization bait because cockroaches are immune to virtually everything known to man, heck the cockroach will survive a nuclear holocaust.

This latest black eye for the VA has prompted Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk to send a letter asking for answers from the VA’s Secretary and demanding that Hines’ Food Services head, Valerie Adegunleye, be fired.

17 Black Lives Matter Protesters Arrested Outside NFL Draft In Chicago

ChT767nWIAApl6P.jpg-largeSaturday afternoon the Chicago police department arrested 17 female Black Lives Matter protesters who had chained themselves together and blocked traffic outside of the NFL draft taking place there this weekend.

The BLM protesters and some with the group Assata’s Daughters were upset that a Chicago police officer, Dante Servin, had murder charges against him dropped by a Cook county judge last year steaming from a 2012 fatal shooting. They were also aggrieved over the now 11 month long Illinois budget impasse, which has caused Chicago State University to layoff some of its staff, as well as other Universities across the state. A $600 million spending bill for colleges and universities was signed by Gov. Rauner last week.

The groups said, via Fox 32:

“Decision makers at the local and state levels have made it clear where their financial priorities lie,” the protest groups said in a statement. “We continue to receive cuts to the institutions that keep black women safe— institutions that continue to be replaced by terrorist cops who brutalize and murder Black women without penalty.”

They also said in their statement that:

Dante Servin murdered Rekia Boyd because he felt he could. Lawmakers refuse to give CSU the funding it needs because they feel there will be no repercussions

Our continued resistance serves as the penalty for destroying Black Lives. There will be no uninterrupted NFL Draft Town when Black women die without justice. There will be no silence while Mayor Emanuel and the city council are cutting a $302,000 deal for an event worth $3.2 million at the same time that we cannot afford to fund Black education.

We choose to #RememberRekia by demanding that Dante Servin be fired without a pension and instead that decision makers commit full, permanent funding to Chicago State University.

Servin, has had procedures started against him to have him removed from the force by former Police chief Gary McCarthy.

Several weeks ago other Black Lives Matter and Assata’s Daughters protesters, along with other groups, blocked traffic, and protested outside of the Chicago field office for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They demanded an end to deportation raids, and a defunding of ICE and the Chicago PD. Several were arrested at that time as well.

Illinois has gone nearly a full year without a budget because one offered by Democrats overspent by $5 billion, which is unconstitutional under the states balanced budget provision, and was thusly vetoed by Gov. Rauner. Ever since Speaker Michael Madigan has been insistent that the budget gap be fixed by raising the states income tax, while Gov. Rauner has demanded that spending be reduced and that some of his reforms from his Turn Around Agenda be implemented; Gov. Rauner has even said he’d be willing to negotiate some revenue increases if it also included some reforms.  Neither side has moved since.

Prior to the higher education spending bill passing Chicago State University had been threatening that it would have to shut down its operations in May due to the lack of a budget and funding for the states colleges. Chicago State has a little less than 5,000 students and is the one of the most heavily dependent on state funding of all the states public universities.
