In his guest column Kim Macloskey delivers classic Keynesian economic theory with "our way out of this recession is to increase government spending and modestly raise income taxes on our wealthiest taxpayers."(http://www.rrstar.com/opinions/columnists/x1814122328/Guest-Column-Economy-won-t-improve-until-manipulation-of-history-ends)

Reality pokes holes in that statement. First, government spending has already gone wild(TARP, bailouts, $787 Billion Stimulus, $1 Trillion deficit so far this fiscal year, $13 Trillion national debt). Second, Americans For Tax Reform has a detailing of the various multiple tax increases that will effect a lot more taxpayers than the "wealthiest" come January 2011.(http://atr.org/six-months-untilbr-largest-tax-hikes-a5171#)

And of course Keynesian economics did not work in ending the Great Depression(conclusion of economist Harold Cole and Lee Ohanianhttp://online.wsj.com/article/SB123353276749137485.html) On May 9, 1939, FDR's Treasury Secretary Henry Mongenthau said "After eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started...and an enormous debt to boot!"

The tax and spend philosophy did not work before and it will not work today, or ever. Now cutting spending and taxes; they do have a proven track record of economic growth and prosperity.

Holding the line on spending like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is doing, or the balanced budgets of the Republican Congress post '94 are examples of the wise and prudent thing to do. We have to balance our checkbook, so should government.

In the wake of Ronald Reagan's policy of tax cuts a couple of things happened. The double digit unemployment of the malaise era was replaced by nearly 20 million new jobs. After eight years revenue to the government had doubled. Double digit inflation and interest rates were tamed. Our nation has known roughly 25 years worth of economic prosperity and growth because we unleashed capitalism.

To combat this recession and its 8 million lost jobs, 10% national unemployment, U-6 unemployment rate of 17%, record home foreclosures and statistically zero private sector growth or job creation, a policy of fiscal restraint and across the board tax cuts is necessary.

Instead of our current tax structure that is slanted towards Karl Marx, why not try a flat 15% Federal income tax or the Fair Tax. Instead of raising taxes on investing, why not suspend capital gains and dividends taxes for a minimum of 2 years. Instead of spending $1 Trillion to dig and fill ditches, why not trim the Federal budget by 2% every year for 10 years. Instead of letting entitlement obligations swallow us whole, why not put some consideration into aspects of Rep. Paul Ryan's plan for entitlement reform.

Come January 1, 2011 every last one of us who pays taxes is going to see our tax burden increase, right when we need it the least.

The 10% Federal income tax bracket becomes 15%, while the unemployment rate is 10%. The 25% bracket rises to 28%, when the u-6 unemployment rate is 17%. 28% becomes 31%, as we shed 8 million jobs in this recession. 33% bracket rises to 36%, when home foreclosures are at records. The 35% top marginal rate becomes 39.6%, when private sector job growth is none existent. Child tax credit cut in half, capital gains and dividends taxes increase, and for what?

Nearly a $1 Trillion stimulus, $60 Trillion unfunded liability for entitlement programs, bailouts, TARP, subsides, earmarks, $1 Trillion deficits so far this fiscal year, $13 Trillion National debt. Federally funded studies of the sexual habits of college female freshmen, and cocaine and sex addicted Japanesse Quail. Pick your program, agency or department and you will find staggering amounts of waste, fraud, and abuse of our money.

Non-binding Resolution Denouncing Confiscatory Taxation and Redistributive Spending Priorities By The Federal Government

We the people of _______ (County, Township, City) are resolved as a council representing the community, do hereby lodge our formal complaint and displeasure with our Federal Government for taking an inordinate amount of our money via Taxes and wasting that money on various Federal Programs and expenses that have seriously impaired our ability as a (County, Township, City) to pay for local basic services needed to maintain the public safety and promote the common good of our community.

As an elected body representing the people of _______(County, Township, City), it is the purpose of this non-binding resolution to register our condemnation of the Federal Government's unrestrained spending. It is our hope that in passing this resolution our Federal representatives will listen to the American people when we say that we are taxed enough and the Federal Government's problem is one of out of control spending.

Our tax burden as individuals and businesses continually escalates in order to finance programs not appropriate under the Constitution's original intent. While it is certainly a noble venture to give philanthropically, it is not an enumerated power for the Federal government to function as a philanthropic organization. The heavy burden of Federal taxation has limited our ability to give to the charities of our choice, to invest, to save, or to spend. The enormous Federal tax bill imposed on the residents of this community limits the available tax dollars for our local government.

The dwindling funds available at our local level has caused us to trim our budgets putting even the most basic of services in jeopardy. Yet Federal officials continue spending at unprecedented levels, taxes are increased, new taxes levied, debt continues to accumulate, and deficits climb to record highs. We do recognize the Federal government has its appropriate role, it does have its Constitutional obligations, but it also has limits.

History shows us that the current tax and spend philosophy and accompanying policies are a failure. History also shows that cutting taxes and Government spending works towards the goal of stimulating economic growth which is the only proven means of increasing revenue for the government.

We call upon Congress and the President to stop the economically destructive practices that are damaging this community and the futures of generations still to come. It is time for Congress and the President to only do those things obligated to them by the Constitution, which is the surest way to achieve the necessary cuts to bring the Federal budget into balance.

This non-binding resolution simply states what we feel as an elected body about the waste, fraud and abuse by the Federal Government in regard to our tax dollars. We do hereby respectfully request as a body that the Federal Government immediately begin downsizing and cutting Federal taxes to allow us as a local government entity the ability to collect an adequate amount of taxes while we also tighten our budgets in order to pay for basic services and public safety needs without placing undue hardships on our residents.

The November 2nd solution

The state of Illinois has a $13 billion budget deficit. Our statewide unemployment rate nears 12%. Our teachers and unions are calling on the legislature to RAISE OUR TAXES. Governor Quinn and Senator Durbin think the only way to create new jobs in this state is to bring the terrorist pukes captured on the battlefield currently held at Guantanamo Bay to a prison in Thomson.

These things probably all sound like great and wonderful accomplishments to a progressive liberal socialist Marxist Democrat. To everyone else they sound like reason after reason to look towards conservative solutions.

That solution begins November 2, 2010 and it is four fold. First the voters of Illinois FIRE every progressive liberal socialist Marxist Democrat running for office. Step two after the election we CUT TAXES. Third we reduce spending including welfare and entitlements. Fourthly we enforce the rule of law, like enforcing the immigration laws currently on the books.

The shinning city on a hill is due for a renaissance and it starts November 2nd.

Passion is the fire which will enable my IQ of 125 to operate at its fullest potential. As a philosopher, political scientist and the conservative movements warrior poet I want to make something clear to my fellow voters regarding the elect ability from today forward for President Obama, Senator Durbin and Governor Quinn.

They are UNELECTABLE.

Their willingness to have captured terrorist brought to American soil thereby entitling these mass murdering barbarians to our cherished Constitutional rights and protections is despicable.

Eisentrager is the case name of the Supreme Court ruling establishing what I just said as factually true.

The truth that these same terrorist have every intention of killing as many innocent civilians as possible in what ever means necessary that will cause the most psychological damage to the targeted society is why my emotions rush to denounce these terrorist pukes as evil.

We are a nation founded upon the self evident truth that all men are created equal and have an unalienable right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. These virtues are incompatible with Jihadism. Showing anything but a resolute determination to victory is why Barack Obama, Dick Durbin and Pat Quinn are unfit to be an elected representative of these United States of America and the reason why they will be VOTED out of office.

The thinking behind their policy is akin to the bank security guard having a habitual habit of forgetting to lock the doors, or having an inexperienced, untrained, unqualified, unaccomplished slacker put in charge of the castle ramparts. It is the same as putting a blind man in the crows nest.

On the battlefields in the war on terrorism when you are in the foxhole, the terrorist pukes making a suicide vest charge. Do you want Obama, Durbin and Quinn to be your buddy in that foxhole watching your flank?

Thoughts on "The Obama Recovery"

"The Obama Recovery" upon deep thought and observation it is now appropriate and accurate to view such a term as a 21st century addition to George Orwell's Nineteen-Eighty Four "Newspeak". For the term means exactly its opposite.

To illustrate the point this "Recovery" has so far created a national unemployment rate of over ten percent with a Bureau of Labor Statistics u-6 unemployment rate at a European level 17%. An increase in Federal and State spending, borrowing, debt issuing, with increased taxes by a thousand small increases. Government bailouts of failed institutions, government enterprises, and private companies that in the free market would have been absorbed by its healthier leaner competitors or been forced by competition and survival to adapt and change. A continuing increase in foreclosures even after multiple programs meant to steam that tide. Lessons in capitalism from the Communist Chinese, whom own our national debt. Job creation by way of transferring terrorist from Guantanamo Bay to Illinois. Never mind the small detail of those terrorist, who have sworn to kill as many innocent lives as possible would be granted Constitutional rights and protections should they set foot on American soil. A "TARP" program meant to buy toxic assets only to be used to buy in essence stock in banks and finacial firms, then used those same funds to bailout General Motors and Chrysler muscling out pre-existing law on contracts in commerce in favor of the auto Unions whom helped elect the majority in Congress passing all this.

It is the absolute display of arrogant ignorance to look at the evidence and say "give him (Obama) a chance". The media has put his face all over the place for two years, one may as well start referring to Obama as "Big Brother".

Gross Domestic Product, GDP, was up some, yes, it would because government spending has gone up. The pace of unemployment has stabilized, and why wouldn't it at this time of year. Unemployment offices are closed, folks can't fill out the forms. Some businesses hire seasonal help and wouldn't you know the holiday season is over. The stock market is up, ok, but that doesn't tell the whole economic barometer; what of inventory, commodities, pay roll, productivity, imports, exports, new orders, profits, losses, tax burden, regulation compliance impacts on time and resources, and so on.

What is worse than "The Obama Recovery" being a part of the latest edition of the Newspeak dictionary is that by its very nature this endeavor is the polar opposite of what our nation not only needs but stands for. It is a methodology proven to make things worse, FDR's New Deal prolonging the Depression, LBJ's Great Society ruining urban centers. And the antitheses of the known positive results brought to us by Ronald Reagan, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence.

Bailout from the Federal government. No, cut investment taxes. Raise the income tax, on the so called but always refined downward, rich. No, lets try a 15% flat income tax across the board. Taxation and regulation of every breath we take. No, thank you, governments scope and power is going to have to shrink. Trillions of dollars in spending, debt, deficits, obligations, and liability. O' no you don't, Congress, The White House, and our State capitals are going to have to spend less.

That means duplicate programs get consolidated, redundant agencies merge, pet projects stop, expenditures outside those mandated by the Constitution get rolled back, Constitutionally emphasized areas of responsibility get prioritized. Some things will have to go, some bureaucrats will lose their jobs, some will take pay cuts, some governmental powers will go back to the people or the states respectively. Some new checks and balances might be in order. Some fiscal restraint is a must. And a lot of accountability by we the voters is due.

Personally speaking, I have no interest in seeing anymore parallels arise in my homeland and the works 1984, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, or Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto.

Not Afraid of the "L" word, from the Rockford Register Star, this would be what i am responding to

John Gustafson "Not afraid of the L word." Wrote "a strong government is not a threat but a protector and guarantor." and "government as the instigator of opportunities for the citizens."

If I may remind our liberal friend, an all powerful centralized government blessing us with what we have, is the kind of government our forefathers broke away from.

Government should protect us. Sure, from the military and terrorist threats that could clam untold lives. But, in our home what good is a bureaucrat a million miles away in Washington. In Hawaii a storm damaged a park the local economy survived on. The state said it would take years and millions of dollars to fix. The residents did it themselves in days and for pennies.

Government should provide us opportunities. Where did this cockamamy notion come from. Life itself is an opportunity, as you go down its path countless chances arise for you to take that will allow you to experience fulfillment.

I haven't needed one trace of government, outside the First Amendment, to advance the conservative message. And you do not need the government to make your dreams and ambitions come to fruition, just some elbow grease, midnight oil, and a little luck.

The Coming Year

2010 is upon us, and we conservatives have a lot of work to do. From the primaries to the general election in November a tremendous amount of effort is going to be needed in order for the conservative movement to triumph at the ballot box. We are going to have our work cut out for us having discussions with friends and family, writing to newspapers, posting on the web, assembling and rallying, and engaging in as many ways as possible our fellow citizens.

There are many battles that lay ahead, from the transfer of enemy terrorist to an Illinois prison, to tax increases and out of control spending, liberty stealing regulations, to smears from elected Democrats and members of the media. Yet one thing will be undeniably clear in this coming year, each and every time, at every turn, the conservative movement is going to stand on its philosophical and historically proven principles.

Government is to be a limited tool used by "we the people" to ensure our liberties, not so massive and onerous that it impedes our ability to lead our lives the best way we see fit in accordance with a civil society.

So when the Democrats seek to grow the size of our federal and state governments, spend massive amounts of money that can only be repaid by robbing from the future of children not yet born, intend to regulate each and every facet of daily life, while displaying weakness to our enemies who have but only one goal kill Americans. We of the conservative movement will not be quiet, we will not back down, we will not surrender, tire, waver, wane, or quit.

Each time Governor Quinn seeks to raise our taxes, we will confidently say no. The corrupt and ethically challenged politicians have spent too much of our tax dollars on things we don't need as a state. Instead of burdening the people in difficult times by taking more away from them. It is time government at all levels big and small to learn how to do with less, how to prioritize, how to become more efficient, and ultimately how to leave us alone.

Every time Senator Durbin tells us that bringing our enemies to our great state is good because it will create jobs. We will start saying no before the sentence is finished. With double digit unemployment nation wide, millions of jobs need to be created, not a handful. And the way you go about creating millions of jobs is to cut capital gains taxes, cut income taxes, cut taxes on small business, cut government spending. I.E the things Ronald Reagan did to get us 25 years of economic good times after the mess called Jimmy Carter, not insult the American people by bring terrorist pukes to the Midwest calling it economic activity.

And when President Obama reaches yet again into the socialist grab-bag of wished for European style government domination of society policies and justifies it with his tag lines "over the last eight years" or "the previous administration". We will kindly object with passion. The American experiment was a 180 degree departure from European sentiments. We would each be responsible for our own development, government would be of, for, and by the people, every individual would be secure in their natural rights, and the Constitution restrains governmental power. All things incompatible with pay czars, government motors, civilian trials for enemy combatants, government run health care, quadrupling our nation's debt, crushing our job creation with higher taxes, and everything in Karl Marx's manifesto.

Get used to the conservative message in 2010, smaller limited government, lower taxes, energy independence, and victory in the war on terror.

A few days before Christmas, in the northern Illinois cold, a hardy group of patriotic Americans and concerned citizens gathered in Sterling to protest the transfer of terrorist from club Gitmo to Thompson, Illinois. I was there and did my part to voice opposition to this stupid plan of President Obama, Attorney General Holder, Senator Durbin, and Governor Quinn. I made some brief remarks on the bullhorn, i gave two interviews to news crews, i stood in unison with gold star moms, and regular folks who recognize that this plan is a whopper of a bad one.

Two moments worth sharing. First I was more than happy to have my picture take with some nice ladies who drove two hours to attend the event, or more accurately was happy to have them take a picture of my t-shirt, the red one i have worn in some of my youtube video's that says "I think therefore I am NOT a progressive liberal socialist Marxist Democrat". Second, one of the reporters had a heck of a question to ask me. "did I support President Obama this time last year"? she obviously hadn't read my shirt before asking, but my reply didn't leave any room for doubt. "No I didn't, and I NEVER will."
