If five members of the Republican party in the Illinois Senate and 11 in the state House voting for Obamacare(the only Republicans in the country to do so) wasn't bad enough, things just got even worse as 18 GOP House members have voted to increase tobacco taxes in Illinois. All of this is being done because the states Medicaid program is in as much fiscal trouble as the rest of the states budget, pensions included. It is really infuriating that these legislators are going along with the plans of Gov. Quinn and the Democrats(at the behest of Republican minority leaders Tom Cross and Christine Radogno) to cut Medicaid reimbursements (which will cause even fewer doctors to take Medicaid), implement Obamacare two years early for Cook County and raise taxes on cigarettes. We can do so much better than that, case in point the Illinois Policy Institutes recommendations for fixing Medicaid and some simple things I would advocate like barring illegal immigrants from receiving Medicaid, enforcing eligibility requirements, maybe encourage some economic growth (by repealing Illinois income and corporate tax hike) so that there are fewer people in need of government assistance, etc.

Illinois deserves better from our Republican party than what we are getting right now, because the way they are behaving is disgraceful. Our spineless and ball-less Republican leaders(chairman Pat Brady included) are completely ineffective. If Illinois is ever going to get out of the mess we are in, a mess that has us on course to be worse than Greece real soon, new leadership must come to the forefront with clear, bold, conservative solutions to what troubles this state, and the only way that new crop of leadership will rise to the surface if by demanding the current so-called leadership(Radogno, Cross, Brady and others) to resign, immediately.

Advocating For The Taxpayer

Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell is accused of stealing $50 million. The Dixon school board votes to put a sales tax on the ballot. The Hononegah school board gives a pay raise to its retiring superintendent so he can get his max pension. Gov. Quinn wants to add $1 in new taxes per pack of cigarettes after raising taxes on every individual and business in the state. Democrats in the state Senate are attempting to raise Illinois' minimum wage to over $10 an hour. President Obama and congressional Democrat want the Bush tax cuts to expire and want the Buffett rule placed on the nations top income earners. Others are out promoting a "global minimum tax".

All of these stories just go to show that the people, the taxpayers, are in desperate need of an advocate standing up for them trying to put a stop to these assaults on their wallets. Thank God the taxpayers of this country have the Tea Party to be that advocate.

The Most Dangerous Thing, Apathy

The most dangerous thing our Republic faces in the short and long term isn't the fantasies of Utopian Statist or the spinelessness of the moderate GOP establishment. It isn't a media in the tank for all things liberal Democrat or an education system that turns out numb skulls full of mush. The great danger facing our over 200 year old Republic is peoples apathy and their non-interest in matters of state and governance.

When I went to Beloit, Wisconsin over the weekend to do some man on the street interviews about the recall election, I expected to find many people passionately supporting Gov. Scott Walker and many others just as passionately opposed to him. I mean Wisconsin's recall election is and has been big news both in Wisconsin and nationally for over a year. So imagine my surprise when the overwhelming response Beloit residents gave me when I approached them about answering a few questions about the recall was, "I don't know what that is."

I spoke to 2-3 dozen people about the upcoming recall, I was able to find 3 who stand with Scott Walker(none of whom wanted to appear on camera), 2 who support his Democrat opponent Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, leaving everyone else I asked that beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon in the camp of the ignorant; minus the one lady who was to young to vote and the one guy who was clearly an immigrant.

I take the life of my country very seriously and the lack of interest in the crucial Wisconsin recall election these Beloit residents displayed is aggravating to say the least. If these folks had no clue about the very important gubernatorial race in their own state, one has to wonder what they know, or more to the point don't know about the Presidential election this November. This blatant disinterest, this apathy towards the things that effect every person are a grave danger to our nation and its survival.

If the general public is totally unaware of an election, then what else of importance are they not paying attention to; the nearly $16 trillion national debt, the trillion plus dollar deficits of President Obama, the unconstitutionality of actions take by President Obama(including the individual mandate, contraception mandate, and recess appointments when the Senate wasn't in recess), $4 a gallon gas and our nations lack of movement towards energy independence, the threat of radical Islamic extremist gain control of large swaths of the Middle East, the phony unemployment rate, Solyndra, Fast and Furious?

To have the kind of apathy the folks of Beloit showed one has to willingly not care about a great many things, not the least of which is the direction the nation is heading(or state). It is going to be up to those of us conservatives who are politically active, aware and informed to sit down and have some long conversations with the apathetic people we know in our lives(friends, family, co-workers, neighbors) because that is the only way we are going to address this danger facing our Republic.

Totally Bogus Analysis Of Obama Spending Touted By Dem's

One Rex Nutting of MarketWatch has put out an analysis of spending under President Obama, claiming that spending under President Obama has grown the least of any President in 60 years.

This item has been well received by Democrats in the media, including MSNBC host Chris Matthews. NewsBusters-With a straight face, Matthews Spins: It's a 'Fact' That Obama Is Not a 'Reckless Spender'

However, as any thinking rationale person should know, Rex Nutting's analysis is totally bogus. I turn now to James Pethokoukis to pick apart Nutting's numbers.

Actually, the Obama spending binge really did happen

Until Barack Obama took office in 2009, the United States had never spent more than 23.5% of GDP, with the exception of the World War II years of 1942-1946. Here’s the Obama spending record:

– 25.2% of GDP in 2009

– 24.1% of GDP in 2010

– 24.1% of GDP in 2011

– 24.3% (estimates by the White House ) in 2012

What’s more, if Obama wins another term, spending—according to his own budget—would never drop below 22.3% of GDP. If that forecast is right, spending during Obama’s eight years in office would average 23.6% of GDP. That’s higher than any single previous non-war year.

Yet financial columnist Rex Nutting of MarketWatch tries to portray the president as being downright stingy in a piece entitled, stunningly, “Obama spending binge never happened”:

Of all the falsehoods told about President Barack Obama, the biggest whopper is the one about his reckless spending spree. As would-be president Mitt Romney tells it: “I will lead us out of this debt and spending inferno.” Almost everyone believes that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending, an “inferno” of spending that threatens our jobs, our businesses and our children’s future. Even Democrats seem to think it’s true. Government spending under Obama, including his signature stimulus bill, is rising at a 1.4% annualized pace — slower than at any time in nearly 60 years.

And here’s the chart summarizing Nutting’s argument:

As the chart indicates, Nutting arrives at that 1.4% number by assigning 2009—when spending surged nearly 20%—to George W. Bush: “The 2009 fiscal year, which Republicans count as part of Obama’s legacy, began four months before Obama moved into the White House. The major spending decisions in the 2009 fiscal year were made by George W. Bush and the previous Congress. Like a relief pitcher who comes into the game with the bases loaded, Obama came in with a budget in place that called for spending to increase by hundreds of billions of dollars in response to the worst economic and financial calamity in generations.”

Let me complete the metaphor for Nutting: “Then as those runners scored, Obama kept putting more on base.”

Obama chose not to reverse that elevated level of spending; thus he, along with congressional Democrats, are responsible for it. Only by establishing 2009 as the new baseline, something Republican budget hawks like Paul Ryan feared would happen, does Obama come off looking like a tightwad. Obama has turned a one-off surge in spending due to the Great Recession into his permanent New Normal through 2016 and beyond.

It’s as if one of my teenagers crashed our family minivan, and I had to buy a new one. And then, since I liked that new car smell so much, I decided to buy a new van every year for the rest of my life. I would indeed be a reckless spender.

Over one year ago U.S Navy SEALs found and killed the most wanted man in the world terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden who was hiding(for years) in a compound feet away from a Pakistani military base, in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Our effort to bring this mass murderer to justice was aided in part by a Pakistani doctor who helped U.S. intelligence confirm Bin Laden's identity and location. One would think that our partner in the war on terrorism, Pakistan, would be embarrassed by this incident but thankful that the head honcho of Al Qaeda had assumed room temperature. Think again.

That doctor who helped us, and the rest of the civilized world, has just be convicted of treason in Pakistan and sentenced to 33 years in prison for helping us get Bin Laden. This move on the part of the Pakistanis smells to me like a move made by a government that was complicate in hiding Osama Bid Laden.

Hacker group plans to attack 46 corporations on Friday

A group of computer hackers is making it known that they plan to launch attacks on the websites of 46 major corporations on Friday. Their target list includes major banks, oil companies, AT&T, Apple and Wal-Mart.

Cyber attacks like this one and others carried out in the past are a serious threat to our nations security and economy. While the impulse might be to classify these hackers as just a nuisance, the fact is that hacker groups like this one are criminal organizations attempting to commit acts of economic sabotage. If there isn't already, a massive criminal(and national security) investigation has to be conducted to dismantle these hacker groups, the most infamous of which is known as Anonymous, and ultimately put their members in prison for every long sentences.

I want everyone to understand the importance of why these hacker groups are a danger so here now is the full section on them and the danger they pose from my new ebook We Can Do Better.

On a similar note, so much of our lives today revolve around, and are even dependent upon, computers and the internet, which are increasingly susceptible to intrusions by hackers. In 2011 someone(s) hacked into the Playstation Network causing it to be shut down for weeks. Up to 77 million users had their personal information potentially compromised.7 Also this year, a hacker group broke into the computer systems of law enforcement agencies in Arizona, releasing officers' personal information, email addresses, and other sensitive items. While these network intrusions were mischievous, in nature someone with malice as their intention can do significant harm to a person's life, a nation's economy, and worse all with a few strokes of a key board.
The hacker group Anonymous released an audio message using a computer generated voice to announce their plans and the rationale behind an attack they planned on November 5, 2011. It either failed, or was never carried out. This is a transcript of their message.8

Citizens of the world and the internet we are Anonymous. Fox News is now the target of Anonymous because of their continued propaganda against the occupiers. Those such as Sean Hannity are attacking the credentials as well as the character of the occupiers at Wall Street and this can't no longer be allowed. Anonymous introduces operation Fox hunt. Anonymous intends on destroying the Fox News website because their continued right-wing conservative propaganda can no longer be tolerated. In late 2011 the Anonymous hacker group hacked into the computer network of Stratfor, an intelligence and global affairs firm. This is what a story from Fox New.com had to say. "The loose-knit hacking movement 'Anonymous' claimed Sunday to have stolen thousands of credit card numbers and other personal information belonging to clients of U.S.-based security think tank Stratfor. One hacker said the goal was to pilfer funds from individuals' accounts to give away as Christmas donations, and some victims confirmed unauthorized transactions linked to their credit cards. Anonymous boasted of stealing Stratfor's confidential client list, which includes entities ranging from Apple to the U.S. Air Force to the Miami Police Department, and mining it for more than 4,000 credit card numbers, passwords and home addresses. 'Not so private and secret anymore?' the group taunted in a message on Twitter, promising that the attack on Stratfor was just the beginning of a Christmas-inspired assault on a long list of targets." The story goes on "One member of the hacking group, who uses the handle AnonymousAbu on Twitter, claimed that more than 90,000 credit cards from law enforcement, the intelligence community and journalist--'corporate/exec accounts of people like Fox' news-- had been hacked and used to 'steal a million dollars' and make donations. It was impossible to verify where credit card details were used. Fox News was not on the excerpted list of Stratfor members posted online, but other media organizations including MSNBC and Al-Jazeera English appeared on the file. Anonymous warned it has 'enough targets lined up to extend the fun fun fun of LulzXmas through the entire next week.' The group has previously claimed responsibility for attacks on companies such as Visa, MasterCard and PayPal, as well as others in the music industry and the Church of Scientology."9 One day these rabble rousing young punks are going to cause some series damage.

Part of the plot for the 4th season of the television series 24 gives a glimpse of the damage that a computer hacker can do. In the show, terrorist were able to gain access to all of the nations nuclear reactors and attempted to cause them to melt down. That was fiction but in reality the dangers a hacker can pose are just as serious. All kinds of vital and important parts of our society are reliant on computers ,and a hack on any one of them could spell real trouble for the American people. If a hacker took over air traffic control at JFK airport in New York City for example, planes could be crashing into each other in mid-air or on the tarmac, killing scores of people. If a hacker broke into one of the nations major stock or commodity exchanges and proceeded to cause mayhem it could potentially cause economic hardship for millions of people. A hacker gaining access to the power grid could cause enormous problems from shutting off traffic control devices to causing a brown-out at the local hospital. The imagination knows no limits of what could happen if someone used cyber-space as a weapon against the American people, therefore, cyber-security needs to be something to which we pay attention.

Illinois Senate Committee Wants $10 an hour minimum wage

Last week a committee of the Illinois Senate approved a measure that would increase the states minimum wage up to $10 an hour from its current $8.25 an hour.

School board gives pay raise to superintendent before retirement

Illinois has $80 billion in unfunded pension liabilities, part of the reason why is because of deals like the one the Hononegah school board gave to its retiring superintendent; raising his pay so that he could receive the maximum TRS pension.

The taxpayers of the Hononegah school district(Rockton and Roscoe, Illinois) should demand that the school board rescind that pay raise. The only way Illinois is going to tackle the states pension problem is by fighting deals like this one. This is yet another example of why the taxpayers of Illinois, and the nation, need people advocating on their behalf, watching government at all levels to make sure they are being good stewards of the taxpayers money. LA Mall Owner Intolerant Of Supporters of Traditional Marriage

The Owner of The Grove shopping mall in Los Angels, California has barred boxing champion Manny Pacquiao from the property because of Pacquiao's stated opposition to same-sex marriage. In a twitter message, which was prompted by comments Pacquiao made to the Conservative Examiner about same-sex marriage, the proprietor of the mall said, "Boxer Manny Pacquiao is not welcome at @TheGroveLA. @TheGroveLA is a gathering place for all Angelenos, not a place for intolerance." Need I remind the owner of The Grove, Rick Caruso, that the voters of California not that long ago approved proposition 8, which amended the California Constitution to define marriage as between one man and one women. So are the millions who voted for that ballot initiative also unwelcome at The Grove? And since North Carolina voters just overwhelmingly approved an amendment to their state Constitution defining marriage as being between one man and one women, are North Carolinians not welcome at The Grove mall? And what about the voters of the 30 other states which have prohibited same-sex marriage, are they welcome?

The genuine intolerance here is being displayed by Rick Caruso, The Grove mall and liberal Democrats the nation over who cannot stand anyone who believes that MARRIAGE IS AND ALWAYS SHALL BE between one man and one women.

DNC gives up on trying to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker

Hat tip here to Big Government for this news. Seems that the DNC is pulling its money out of the effort to recall Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. After last weeks recall primary which saw Gov. Walker receive as many votes as the top two Democrats combined and with polls showing Walker with a 5 point lead who could blame the DNC for not wanting to waste its money on a losing effort.

Comparing Governors

Lets compare, shall we, the governors of Illinois and Wisconsin, one a failure the other a success story. In Illinois Gov. Quinn has raised taxes on every single person and business in the state, while Gov. Walker in Wisconsin hasn't raised taxes on anyone, in fact many Wisconsin residents have seen their property taxes decrease. Where Gov. Quinn has laid-off state workers and closed state facilities, Gov. Walker has not.

In January of 2011 Illinois had massive budgetary problems including $8 billion in unpaid bills and $80 billion in unfunded pension liabilities, while Wisconsin had itself a $3 billion budget deficit. A year and a half later under Gov. Quinn Illinois' problems have only grown worse, like now having $9 billion in unpaid bills, while Wisconsin has seen its deficit turn into a projected $154.5 million surplus thanks to Gov. Walker's leadership.

One can only imagine in how much better shape Illinois would be in if someone like Scott Walker was our Governor instead of the abject failure of a chief executive that is Pat Quinn.

Putting the $2 billion JP Morgan loss in perspective

Recently J.P. Morgan lost $2 billion. This loss has prompted Big government, tax and spend liberal Democrats to call for more government, more regulations, more "oversight", and eventually they will get around to wanting more taxation and more federal spending.

Let us put that $2 billion in perspective, shall we. Our federal government borrows about $150 million per hour, so in one day Obama, Reid and Pelosi add $3.6 billion to the national debt. In less than one day the very same Democrats calling for more government because of JP Morgan will squander an equal amount(and then some).

Did you know that $2 billion annually is spent on the foreign agriculture service?

If one were to return the federal workforce to 2008 levels and eliminate the Bureau of Reclamation(yes we do have a federal one) the net savings to the taxpayer would be equal to that $2 billion loss of JP we are supposed to want bigger government to do something about.

What I want my government doing is killing or capturing radical islamic extremist. To that end at $1.4 million a piece, that $2 billion everyone is getting worked up over, would yield us over 1400 tomahawk cruise missiles.

JP Morgan's $2 billion loss would enable the GSA to throw their kind of a party($823,000) 2400 times.

And in case anyone has forgotten JP's $2 billion, which has stirred the call for more government and more regulations, isn't even twice as much money as the former Democrat Governor of New Jersey Jon Corzine lost at MF Global(and as Mark Levin mentioned has any Democrat called for new regulations or more government because of him).

Of course JP's $2 billion makes them look like pikers compared to the $70 billion Medicare and Medicaid lose to waste and fraud each year.

I found this photo today, and it must be shared with all. Seems the owner of The Shooter's Shop gun store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin had himself a liberal protester and one of his buddies counter protested him with quite possibly the best sign ever.
