who to vote for Dave Syverson or Christine Johnson

(Sen. Christine Johnson) (Sen. Dave Syverson)
Here in northern Illinois there is a race for the Republican nomination for the 35th state Senate district, thanks to redistricting two incumbents will be facing off against each other Senator Christine Johnson and Senator Dave Syverson.
I have had the opportunity to meet both of them on multiple occasions and know each to be nice people. However, a review of their respective voting records shows that there are big differences between them. Since Christine has only served in the state Senate for a few months I am going to narrow the review of their voting records to that time when both have served given that Senator Syverson has been in office since 1993.
In their time together in Springfield two major votes have taken place and they have been on opposite ends of both of those votes.
The first vote difference is the expansion of casino's in Illinois which would result in a casino being located in Rockford. There are folks in Rockford who believe a casino would be the answer to much of Rockford's job and economic woes. Senator Syverson voted for that expansion of gambling in Illinois. Senator Johnson voted against it, and I agree with the way she voted on that issue. Having been an outside observer of the enigma that is Rockford I believe that a Rockford casino is a waste of time, energy, effort and money, It will not bring the economic prosperity its proponents say it will, and it most certainly will add more to the many social ills that plaque Rockford.
The second vote was on the Illinois version of the DREAM act, which allows illegal immigrants access to a private scholarship so that they can go to college. As any frequent reader of this blog will know I disapprove of giving any special treatment to illegal's. When the AP ran a story about the signing into law of the Illinois DREAM act and mentioned the story and details of "Tania" an illegal who is a grad student at the University of Illinois Chicago I reported "Tania" to ICE.
USOFARN- Do your civic duty and report Illegal immigrants
When it came time to vote on the Illinois DREAM act Senator Syverson voted for it while Senator Johnson voted against it. So it is that vote which has broken the camels back, so to speak, and why I have to encourage everyone who will be voting in the Illinois primary in the 35th senate district to vote for Christine Johnson.
We have to send as many conservatives as possible to Springfield and Washington and when it comes to Christine Johnson and Dave Syverson the votes tell the story very clearly, Christine Johnson is a principled conservative, Dave Syverson well simply is not.
*note for readers I do not live in the 35th district

I too will not be in this district but thought I should add my voice. If I could I would sure vote for Chris Johnson. I know her and her husband Jim very well and served with them on our local Thrivent board with them. Really a true and tested Conservative.
