The National Security Implications of Ron Paul
The Ron Paul acolytes really do need an education on a number of subjects, but I am going to focus around those that matter most and those are the interconnected issues related to our nations security.
Now, ladies and gentlemen please synchronize your time pieces, in 33 minutes a nuclear weapon launched form North Korea will destroy downtown Los Angles, California.
Events occur in real time.
Lets begin.
For the sake of keeping this simple the brief summary of Ron Paul's military and foreign policy is that of isolation,getting out of trade agreement like NAFTA for example and a literal interpretation of the Constitution that use of military force requires Congress to declare War, in those specific words.
First about the Constitution it clearly states that Congress has the POWER to declare war, not a procedure, not a specific set of code words, just this relevant passage from Article 1, Section 8
"To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;
To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;
To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;
To provide and maintain a Navy;
To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;
Now let us not forget this clause also found in Article 1, Section 8.
"...and provide for the common Defence ..."
We have just begun and already there seem to be a few problems with the way Ron Paul views things, and hence how his supporters see things about the use and purpose of the military. Anyone who cares to read the rest of that part of the Constitution can also see for themselves that the rest of Ron Paul's isolationism and Constitutional interpretation have some serious flaws just in the one area of examination.
Have you checked the clock recently to see what time it is?
Given Congressman Paul's stated position that he would not have authorized the raid that resulted in the death of terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden because of the lack of a formal declaration of War between the United States and the radical islamic extremist as a starting point it is reasonable to assume that Congressman Paul would be looking to scramble the House and Senate into session so he could have them pass a war proclamation against North Korea for this hostile action, wouldn't it?

What time do you have by the way?
To be fair to Congressman Paul in this exercise it should be noted that no declaration of war is needed between the United States and Communist North Korea, as history will note the KOREAN WAR NEVER OFFICIAL ENDED. It should also be noted that this scenario can easily be changed to Al Qaeda using a weapon of mass destruction, or the missile could be an Iranian nuke launched from Venezuela, etc, etc, etc.
So what does one do to stop the looming horror that is about to affect southern California. Ideally one would stop the situation from ever getting to this point in the first place by any number of various means and methods. Yet we do not live in an ideal world, and so this North Korea nuclear attack takes us nearly by complete surprise for 24 hours before launch our intelligence community learned of the impending nuclear strike before the weapon could be launched giving us the option of protecting the American people, which is the first priority of the President of the United States, before their lives are needlessly put in peril.
Yet here we are looking at the clock!
That is because Ron Paul has stated that he wants to bring all US troops stationed abroad home, which includes our forces in Afghanistan, and those stationed in South Korea(who kinda would have come in handy given the missile we are talking about came from North Korea), our Marine and other forces in Japan, our air craft carriers sailing the seven seas would not be in the region and so on.
With out any of our forces in the area capable of launching a timely enough preemptive strike, and we are saying here that it would be necessary for the sake of argument, that leaves Ron Paul sitting around next to the phone waiting for the first member of congress to get back to him and a ticking clock that for him has been 24 hours plus whatever time has elapsed since I told you to synchronize your sun dial.

Given the 33 minute straight jacket Ron Paul's views have placed on the ability here to protect the lives in Los Angles, now seems like as good a time as any to activate our missile defense shield.
Funny thing about that missile defense shield in our Ron Paul world here, see Congressman's Barney Frank and Ron Paul, among others crafted something that was to cut around $200 Billion annually for defense and military spending over 10 years. Here is a part of a letter from them regarding specifically missile defense.
"We also think that significant savings can be found if we subject to similar scrutiny strategic choices that have led to the retention and continued development of Cold War-era weapons systems and initiatives such as missile defense."
Washington Post- Ezra Klein- Frank/Paul cut defense spending
Well, guess that kinda takes shooting down that North Korean nuke now doesn't it.
It doesn't matter what the clock says now, there is nothing that can be done to save the people of Los Angles, or if this was an Iranian nuke that left Venezuela from us saving Houston or New Orleans or Miami, that is unless the Air Force has something they want to share with the public pertaining to Cheyenne Mountain.

(Cheyenne Mountain) (Is there a Stargate?)
I hope this has help clean up the thinking for you Ron Paul acolytes, I mean come on the congressman got 5.5% of the vote in '08 and in this day and age of jihadist, a nuclear North Korea, Iran, the military buildup in China, the ever present danger of lose Russian nukes, Somali pirates, and dozens more, we need a President who gets the global stage and our role in it, in the cross hairs, and that person is not Ron Paul.

(Congressman Ron Paul)
