Japan, Wisconsin and the Rockford school board

Here are a few quick thoughts on a trio of items.

First of all my condolences and prayers to the people of Japan who were rocked by a major earthquake overnight.  The land of the rising sun has suffered massive damaged and lost of life.  Today you search for survivors, tomorrow you morn, then you rebuild, and my thoughts will be with you throughout the process of your nations recovery from this tragic event. (I encourage any readers to find the charity of their choice that is offering aid to the Japanese people in their time of need.)

Second, last sunday I attended the Americans for Prosperity stand with Walker event in Madison, Wisconsin, and today I get to proudly say that Gov. Walker has signed into law his measures aimed at bringing fiscal discipline to the state of Wisconsin.  For far to long government sector unions have used the tax payer to give themselves(the unions) a lavish set of pay, benefit and other contractual conditions that far out pace anything those who are paying for all of it could ever dream of having for themselves.  Now with the passage of Gov. Walkers limitations on taxpayer funded, government sector unions there is some hope that the governmental entities of Wisconsin can address their fiscal issues without the unions blocking every effort to make desperately need changes.  With the passage and signed of Walkers bill, union dues are no longer going to be automatically withheld for government employees pay, membership in a union will not be compulsory, wage increase will be held to standard, union will have to annually vote to remain in existence, and much more.

Finally tomorrow, saturday March 12, 2011 The Rockford Tea Party will be hosting a Rockford school board candidates forum beginning at 12:30 at the Rockford Public Library main branch 215 North Wyman street in the auditorium  The Rockford school system faces many challenges and has a lot of issues and the candidates for school board need to be vetted by you the voters of Rockford to make sure that they will be good stewards of your children's education and of you tax dollars.  The city of Rockford has one of the highest property taxes in the state of Illinois and the vast majority of that goes to the school district, please attend this forum if you live in anyone of the school districts sub-districts.  I plan on being there to record the event for those who can not attend.

Now if you please will join me in a moment of silent prayer and reflection and remembrance to the victims of the Japan quake, thank you.
